PREPOSITION

Preposition Examples A preposition is a word that shows the connection between a noun or pronoun and another word in a sentence. The preposition "on" indicates the connection between "apple" and "table." The apple is on the table. She took notes during the meeting. The preposition "during" indicates the connection between "notes" and "meeting." They describe the relationship in terms of sequence, space, and logic.

Prepositions of time show the relationship of time between the nouns and the other parts of a sentence. Examples He bought a car last year. School starts on Monday. A preposition of place is a preposition that is used to describe the location of something or someone. Examples I am at home. She is in the garden. Prepositions of direction describe how a person or thing moves or is directed with respect to other people and things. Examples Samira went to the mall. The restaurant is across the bank. Sentence: She was absent due to illness. Prepositions of Possession These prepositions show ownership or belonging. Examples: of, to, with Sentence: The cover of the book is torn. Sentence: She is a friend of mine.
