Lucknow Pact :-1916 T he Indian politics took a new turn with the change in Muslim league political objectives. I n 1913 Muslim league demanded self-rule for India which brought the Muslim league and congress to each other. Quaid-e-Azam a great advocate of Hindu Muslim unity, was widely respected in Muslim league and congress, he suggested to the Muslim league to hold its annual session of 1915 in Bombay where congress was also holding its annual session. I n November 1916 the leaders of congress and Muslim league met in Calcutta and settled the details of an agreement about the composition of the legislatures and quantum of representation to be allowed to two communities.
Main Clauses of lucknow Pact There shall be self-government in indie. Muslim should be given one third representation in the central government. T here should be separate electorates for all the communities. System of weightage should be adopted. Increase the members of central legislative council. Term of the legislative council should be five year. Half of the members of imperial legislative council should be Indian. Executive should be separated from the judiciary.
