FINDING THE VOLUME OF A CYLINDER

FIND THE VOLUME OF A CYLINDER

Solve the following.

Volume of Solid Figures

Area of a circle = pi r2 pi x r x r Value of pi is 3.14

A water tank is shaped like a cylinder. It is 20 meters tall and has a radius of 7 meters. How many cubic meters of water can the tank hold?

How can we conserve water?

Is it righteous for us to conserve water? Why or why not?

A water tank is shaped like a cylinder. It is 20 meters tall and has a radius of 7 meters. How many cubic meters of water can the tank hold? What is ask in the problem? What is/are the given fact/s? How will you answer the question in the problem? What is the solution to the problem?

GROUP PRESENTATION

How did you find the activity? How will you find the volume of a cylinder? Does the volume of a cylinder increases as the radius or diameter increases also?

Given the radius and height, the volume of cylinders can be found by using the formula: Volume of cylinder = Area of base × height = pi × r2× h and you can use 3.14 for pi .

To find the volume of a cylinder, calculate the area of the base ( which is a circle ) by using the equation pi x r2 where r is the radius of the circle . Then, multiply the area of the base by the height of the cylinder to find the volume. We can use this formula: Volume of cylinder = Area of base x height pir2h or pi x r x r x h

Group I: Act Out ( Role Play ) the situation in the problem Group II: Make an illustration/drawing of a given dimension of cylinder Group III: Solve and show the solution for the volume of a cylinder Problem: Mrs. Villanueva went to CVK store last Saturday to buy a cylindrical tank. She brought a tape measure with her to measure the volume of water a tank can hold. It is 7 meters tall and has a radius of 2 meters. After a while, she paid the cashier and brought home the tank .How many cubic meters of water can the tank hold?

GROUP PRESENTATION

Very Good!

Find the exact volume of each cylinder: 1. Calculate the Volume of cylinder if r = 2 cm and h = 5cm

3 . Calculate the Volume of cylinder if r = 4 inches and h = 8 inches
