10. CoolantTemperatureGauge
Thecoolanttemperaturegaugeindicatesenginecoolanttemperature.ThenormaloperatingtemperatureforMackengines
is80to105°C(170–215°F).Ifthetemperatureremainsbeloworexceedsthenormaltemperaturerange,thecoolingsys-
temshouldbecheckedforproblemsbyanauthorizedMackVehicledealer.Whencoolanttemperatureisexcessive,thered
STOPtell-taleilluminatesandthebuzzerwillsound.TheengineisatriskandtheECMmayderatetheenginepower.Stop
atthefirstsafeplacewheretheproblemcanbechecked.

Indicatesengineoilpressure.Whentheengineoilpressureistoolow,theredSTOPtell-taleilluminatesandthebuzzerwill
sound.Iftheengineoilpressurebecomeslow,theengineisatrisk.Bringthevehicletoasafestopwheretheproblemcan
bechecked.

FailuretotakenecessaryactionwhentheSTOPtell-taleisoncanultimatelyresultinautomaticengineshutdownandloss
ofpowersteeringassist.Vehiclecrashcanoccur,resultinginpersonalinjuryordeath.

mentalregulations(intheareawherethevehicleistobe

Indicatesengineoilpressure.ThenormaloperatingoilpressureforaMackMP7™engine(atgovernedspeed)is275.8–
620.5kPa(40–90psi).Atidlingspeed,theoilpressureshouldbe275.8–413.9kPa(40–60psi).Shouldtheoilpressure
dropsuddenlyfromthenormalreadings,stoptheengineimmediatelyanddeterminethecause.
8.HourMeter
Indicateshoursofengineoperation.HoursofoperationshouldbeusedasaguideforcertainengineorPTOmaintenance
operations.
9.EngineCoolantTemperatureGauge
Indicatesthetemperatureoftheenginecoolant.ThenormaloperatingtemperatureforaMackMP7™engineis77-107°C
(170–225°F).Thedriverwillreceiveawarningifthecoolanttemperaturereaches106°C(223°F)andengineshutdownwill
occurat108°C(227°F)iftheenginecoolanttemperatureshutdownoptionisenabled.
CAUTION
Avoidcomponentdamage,coolanttemperatemustNOTexceed107°C(225°F).

Thetransmission-mountedPTOisclutch-dependent,whichmeansthatoperationcanberegulatedbydepressingorre-
leasingtheclutchpedal.FormDrivetransmissions,thisiscontrolledbytheTransmissionElectronicControlUnit(TECU).If
thevehiclehasanautomatictransmissionthePTOoperationandspeedadjustmentiscontrolledviaaninteriorswitch.
