About This Presentation

PRESENTATION ABOUT MAIZE FARMING

Slide Content

MAIZE AS A CASH CROP
• Maize is known as the “Queen of Cereals” due to its demand and wider
adaptability.
• It is the second most important cereal crop in the world in terms of
acreage and production. Global production of maize was about 1040
million MT in the year 2018–2020.
• Maize can be cultivated successfully in African soil and weather
condition.
• The Maize (Corn) Farming Industry is indeed a very large industry and
pretty much thriving in all parts of the world.

• Ghana is currently facing shortages in maize cultivation.
• Farm mechanization plays a major role in enhancing the production and
productivity of different crops including maize.

PROGRAM IN DETAIL
• Creation of a 5,000-10,000 acre plantation to farm maize to serve as
out growers for its animal feed processing plant.
• Assess different hybrid seeds and fertilizer which will be suitable and
applicable in Ghana;
• Invite the best agronomist, mechanics and farmers from Europe to train
farmers;
• To use the latest innovative technologies and equipment in agricultural
sector (Irrigated farming)
• Modern storage facilities for drying and preserving grains

• Animal Feed Processing plant to add value
to grain for more profit

SWOT ANALYSIS
Strength: • Our strength as a company is in the fact that we have healthy relationships with loads of major
players (agriculture merchants who deal in corn) in the commercial farms industry; both suppliers and
buyers within and outside of Ghana.
• We will possess latest commercial farming machines, tools and corn processing equipment that will help us
train people and cultivate corn in commercial quantities with less stress. Aside our relationship (network) and
equipment, we can confidently boast that we have some of the most experienced hands in Europe. Weakness:
• Our weakness could be that we are a new commercial farming company in Ghana, and perhaps the fact
that we decided to diversify our farming activities could count against us initially. We are prepared to put our
expertise in sensitization to play, to attract and maintain outgrower interest to overcome this weakness and
turn it to a major advantage for the business.
Opportunities:

• The opportunities that are available to us cannot be quantified; we know that there are loads of individuals
who consume corn in different forms both in Ghana and other parts of the world.
• Government of Ghana also put afore agriculture and have as a policy to develop it.
