Death Ana-al-Haq ’ (I am the truth ) Executed on the orders of an Abbasside caliph for uttering these words, taken to mean Hallaj as claiming himself to be God . After more than a decade of imprisonment, Hallaj was eventually executed publically in Baghdad in the year 922 .
Philosophy of Hallaj in his poetry I saw my Lord with the eye of the heart. I asked: Who art Thou? He answered: Thou. You are He Who fills all place But place does not know where You are. In my subsistence is my annihilation; In my annihilation, I remain You. Concealment does not veil Him His pre-existence preceded time, His being preceded not-being, His eternity preceded limit.
Philosophy of Hallaj in his poetry I saw my Lord with the eye of the heart, and I said "Who are you?" and he said "Your Self." It is You that I see in everything; And I do not see You through anything (but You). Concealment does not veil Him His pre-existence preceded time, His being preceded not-being, His eternity preceded limit .
Philosophy of Hallaj in his poetry I am the One whom I love, and the One whom I love is myself. We are two souls incarnated in one body; if you see me, you see Him, if you see Him, you see us.(Diwan al-Hallaj, 93)

Rumi talks about al- Hallaj (Barks 2004 ) The Sunrise Ruby
In the early morning hour, just before dawn, lover and beloved wake and take a drink of water. She ask, "Do you love me or yourself more? Really, tell the absolute truth." Martyrdom of al- Hallaj and Unity of the Existence He says, "There’s nothing left of me. I’m like a ruby held up to the sunrise. Is it still a stone, or a world made of redness? It has no resistance to sunlight." This is how Hallaj said, I am God, and told the truth! The ruby and the sunrise are one. Be courageous and discipline yourself. Completely become hearing and ear, and wear this sun-ruby as an earring. Work. Keep digging your well. Don’t think about getting off from work. Water is there somewhere. Submit to a daily practice. Your loyalty to that is a ring on the door. Keep knocking, and the joy inside will eventually open a window and look out to see who’s there.
