Giacomo Puccini was born into a musical family in Lucca, Italy, on December 22, 1858

He received his early musical training from his uncle, Fortunato Magi, and later studied at the Milan Conservatory .

Puccini’s breakthrough came with the success of his opera “ Manon Lescaut ” in 1893

He went on to compose several more acclaimed operas, including “La Bohème” (1896), “Tosca” (1900), and “Madama Butterfly” (1904).

Throughout his life, Puccini faced personal and professional challenges, including financial difficulties, the death of his wife, Elvira, and criticism from contemporary composers. However, his operas were immensely popular and cemented his reputation as one of the greatest composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries .

Puccini’s later years were marked by a focus on composing, despite ongoing health issues. He was working on his final opera, “Turandot,” when he was diagnosed with throat cancer. Despite undergoing treatment, Puccini passed away on November 29, 1924, before completing the opera. It was later finished by Franco Alfano.
