7. Fernand Leger was among the prolific artists in the 20th century. The prominent artist was based in Paris, France. Fernand came up with a famous artwork known as a mechanical element. 8. Fernand Léger was a French painter , sculptor , and filmmaker . In his early works, he created a personal form of cubism — known as “ tubism ” — which he gradually modified into a more figurative , populist style. He is best known for, though, are his large scale paintings and murals.

11. The City The City is a 1919 painting by French painter and sculptor Fernand Léger. The painting is Cubist in style and is now in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Leger drew inspiration from his time as a soldier during World War I. The City was created just three years after leaving the war camp.
