Maps A map is a model of the Earth shown on a flat surface. Maps are useful because you can carry them with you.

Element’s purpose Title- Tells you the purpose of the maps. Legend-The legend show you what symbols on the map mean Campus rose-It is a tool that tells us the direction. Scale-It is shown in both standard and metric measurements and shoe distance between on the maps. Inset map- It is a smaller map that shows a “larger” area of land around the maps.

Treasure map A treasure map is a map that marks the location of buried treasure, a lost mine, a valuable secret or a hidden locale. We sometimes make treasure maps for parties and play with friends.
Route maps A road map or route map is a map that primarily displays roads and transport links rather than natural geographical information.
Train map These maps tell us about the routes of the station coming between our starting point journey to the destination,
Metro map Metro maps presents the stations coming between the destination and tells which line we should take for the required route.
Navigation maps These maps also tell us the routes for the destination.. these routes can be more elaborated by giving left or right sign to be taken as per the roads.

Member of First Families Virginia, National Society Colonial Dames, Poetry Society America, Member Diversifiers, Filson Club (Louisville), Woman's City Club. . Education Bachelor of Arts., U. Kansas, 1919. Career Began writing professionally, 1931. Published more than 2000 poems to national magazines and newspapers including Saturday Review, Saturday Evening Post, Virginia Quarterly Review, Poetry, Commonweal, Good Housekeeping and others, author research articles for various history journals. Poems reprinted in over 200 collections, textbooks and anthologies in England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Sweden. Achievements Dorothy Brown Thompson has been listed as a notable writer by Marquis Who's Who.
Stanza-1 High Adventure And bright dream— Maps are mightier Than they seem: Meaning: It means that maps are so wonderful that can do anything like it can tell place that we think to go and about it.
Stanza-2 Ships that follow Leaning stars— Red and gold of strange bazaars— Meaning: It means when the ships are lost or finding there ways so stars help them like map to find the way
Stanza-3 Ice floes hid Beyond all knowing— Planes that ride where Wind are blowing! Meaning: This means that the ice bergs that we cannot see, the maps help them to see.
Stanza-4 Train maps, maps of Wind and weather, Road maps—taken Altogether Meaning: This means that there are different types of maps that help us.

Summary of Poem (maps) She tells us about the Importance of maps. She explains how useful are the maps for us. It is useful in many ways like - The people who wants to explore world or any places can take help of the maps, the people who wants to climb mountains can take help of the maps etc. Maps look like a piece of paper but they are a book of information of the places ,lands rivers, roads, mountains etc. And they are so exciting. The poetress tells that Maps are like a magical sticks. She also tells that we can explore the world by being where we are by using maps.
