Marina A Marina is defined as “A dock or basin providing secure moorings for pleasure boats or yacht and often offering supply, repair, and other facilities .” Marinas were originally developed as an alternative to berthing in open waters for three reasons:  convenience , safety ,  security. A marina differs from a port in that a marina does not handle large passenger or cargo ships

Marina Dock Systems

Off shore Marina Recessed Marina Built-In Marina Landlocked Marina Four basic Marina types Marinas are classified on the basis of the form of the water area used for the marina in relation to the mainland environment.

Water Land Off shore marinas are built as it say completely off the shore Can be the least expensive to build Extremely vulnerable to weather and currents Minimum enclosure possibilities Least impact on environment Off Shore Marinas

Marina is half on land half in the water Recessed marinas constitute a navigation hazard for passing craft. Recessed Marina

Water Land Built-In Marina The built-in marina offers the advantages of an uninterrupted shoreline. A large land-water interface and considerable enclosure . I t offers excellent safety .

Water Land Landlocked Marina   The landlocked marina is both the expensive and the safest type of marina. It offers maximum enclosure and minimum interruption of shoreline.
