About This Presentation

Here we r going to look about mass multiplication of fungal biocontrol agents and their quality control

Slide Content

Mass Production of Fungus and Bacterial Bio-control agents and their Quality Control

Mass Production :- Mass production is the industrial technique to produce large quantities of similar products in constant flows on production lines. Advantages:- Increased Productivity Uniformity Lower cost Faster production

Types :- Fungi :- Solid state fermentation Liquid state fermentation Bacteria : - Liquid State fermentation

Fungi 1) Solid state fermentation:- Media : solid media Agricultural waste - straw, stubbles, bran

Grains - Rice,wheat,sorghum,pearl millet

Agricultural by products - Molasses of sugarcane

Solid State Fermentation:- Mother culture of Trichoderma Parboiled Sorghum grains (remove the broken, unhealthy grains) Pour the water to the grains Remove the Floating Grains from the water Select the settled grains in the water Dry the grains

Pack the grains with the polythene bag Autoclave the grains Inoculate the culture (Trichoderma) on Grains Grind that & Use for the field application

Liquid Fermentation Select Mother culture (Trichoderma) Shift the mother culture to the broth (Starter culture) Pour into a Instrument called Fermentor By 3-4 Days Inoculum is produced (T. harzianum - potato dextrose broth, molasses-yeast medium, and V-8 juice)

Fermentor:- A device used for the sterilisation and enclosed vessels that are used for the growth of microorganisms under optimal conditions

1. Carrier Based Formulations - Widely used carrier material is talc CMC(Carboxyl Methyl Cellulase) + Talc + Broth culture 2. liquid Based Formulations - Solutions,Suspention,EC etc..

Bacteria King’s B medium (broth) is ideal for mass production of antagonistic bacteria, however other media like Tryptic Soya Broth or Nutrient Broth can also be used.

Quality Control :- Fungus :- Identification and characterization Viability and Germination Pathogenicity and Efficacy Contamination

Bacteria Identification and Characterization Viability and Cell count Pathogenicity and Efficacy Contamination
