The Birthday Party Story Time
It was Sarah’s birthday, and she was excited to celebrate with her friends. She had invited everyone to her house for a party. There were lots of delicious food like pizza, cake and ice cream.
Sarah’s mom had made a big pot of spaghetti, and there was plenty of juice for everyone.
Sarah’s friends bought her many presents, including a new bike, a board game, and some colorful balloons. She was so happy to have all her friends and family there to celebrate with her.
After the party, Sarah helped her mom clean up. They gathered all the empty juice boxes, paper plates, and plastic cups into a big bin.
They carefully separated the plastic bottles from the paper trash, and her mom explained how important it was to recycle. Sarah’s mom said they could take the plastic bottles to the recycling center, where they can turn it into something new.
Sarah felt happy and grateful for her birthday party. She knew that even the party was over, the memories would last forever, and the waste materials could be given new life.

Count nouns : also known as countable nouns, are nouns that can be counted as individual units. These nouns can be singular or plural, and they can be preceded by numerical values (one, two, three, etc.) or quantifying words like “a,” “an,” or “some”.

Mass Nouns : also known as uncountable noun, that refers to a substance (liquid), concept or idea (love, peace, happiness) Mass nouns do not typically have plural forms and are not preceded by a numerical value or individualized with “a” or “an”. Instead, they are quantified using quantifiers or counters.
Some quantifiers are much, many, lots of, a little of, a bit of, a piece of , a glass of, a kilo of, etc. Example: 1. My mother bought a kilo of meat . 2. A teaspoonful of sugar was spilled on the floor
Game 1: “Count or Mass” Nouns Students work in small groups. Each member will take turns drawing a card and identifying whether the noun is a mass nouns or count nouns for one minute. The group who identified the most nouns correctly wins the game. Activity:
Game 2: FAMILY FEUD Divide the class into two groups with five members. The four members will answer while the fifth member will be the one computing their team’s score. They will answer a survey which examples of count or mass noun is an answer. Each answer has corresponding points.
