Material safety data sheet Submitted To- Submitted By- Dr. P.K. Verma Mayank 2118291045 1114 DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES, M.D.U. ROHTAK

Definition- It is a technical document which provides the detailed information relating to occupational safety and health for the use of various susbstances and products. In other words it can be said as “HOROSCOPE OF THE CHEMICAL” M.S.D.S. is also known as 1. Safety data sheet(S.D.S.) 2. Product Safety Data shee t . (P.S.D.S)

An S.D.S. for a substance is not primarily intended for use by general consumer instead on hazards of working with material in occupational setting. It provides comprehensive information on a controlled product related to- Health effects of exposure to product. Hazard evaluation related to product handling, storage or use. Measure to protect workers at the risk of exposure . Emergency procedures.

Responsibilities related to m.s.d.s . 1. Supplier should ensure to obtain a M.S.D.S. for each controlled product imported or sold for use in workplace. 2. Employer should ensure that an up to date M.S.D.S. is obtained from the supplier. 3. Ensure a copy of all datasheets which are required for workplace are made readily available at the worksite. 4. Ensure that employee who works with a controlled product or in close proximity to a controlled product is instructed in- Content required in M.S.D.S. Purpose and significance of information contained in it.
