Project Title: THEORETICAL STUDY & ANALYSIS OF EFFECT OF EXTERNAL C- D NOZZLE ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PULSE DETONATION ENGINE Introduction: PDE engine is an internal combustion engine, constant volume heat addition process, which generates detonation wave that combust fuel and oxidizer mixture, release vast amount of energy and develop much higher pressure than deflagration process. Objective: The prospective propulsion PDE system requires immense attention to improve or enhance their performance parameters which accounts for rise in thrust. For this respect, an Exhaust C-D Nozzle has been designed on the basis of theoretical concept and then CFD analysis was done to to understand effect on chamber pressure and flow pattern throughout CD Nozzle. Approach: The configuration of Nozzle has been designed as per the ASME & ISO standard 9300 and solid model created in SolidWorks. Where d is the throat’s diameter of C-D Nozzle, D is diameter of PDE tube, L is the length of divergent section and R is the convergent arc. Dimensions of geometry are confidential. The boundary conditions are identified as INLET where mass flow rate with inlet pressure enter in the nozzle, OUTLET where mass flow rate with exit pressure exhaust in the surrounding and WALL specifies as adiabatic sides of nozzle.
