Introduction Media and Entertainment industry consists of film, television, radio, print and advertising and gaming. These segment include movies, TV shows, radio shows, news, music, newspaper, games, magazines and books. M&E industry is in a transformation phase as both old and new continues to coexist. Social media, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud Computing(SMAC), the new generation in technology and globalization is now the next wave catalyst of change for the industry. 3

Sector Overview As per the reports, there are 600 million internet users in India. (AVOD) expected with CAGR of 24% by 2025 TV expected to be the largest segment by Rs. 847 Billion Mobile gaming market expected to reach $7 Billion by 2025 FDI limit increased to 100% GDP ratio will be 0.4% by 2025 from 0.38% in 2019. 4

Recent Development Star & Disney India signed advertising deals worth Rs1200 Cr, for ICC T20 World Cup. Social gaming platform WinZo , with kalaari Capital announced a new investment initiative, Gaming Lab to support India’s gaming ecosystem. Pocket FM in India raised US$ 65 Mn and has plans to expand in new regional languages. Reliance Entertainment signed a 10-film agreement with T-Series at a transaction value of Rs.1000 Cr Krafton infused US$ 19.5 Mn in Indian audio content platform Kuku FM. 10

Government Initiatives National centre of excellence in Mumbai for AVGC. Prasar Bharati decided to auction its archives. The Indian and Canadian government deal. IBF renamed as the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF). IAMAI finalized a code of conduct. NFDC collaboration with the ministry of railways. 11

Employment trends Due to pandemic there was a downfall of 56% in employment, it came from 6 lakh to 2.5lakh. Digital transformation of the sector to offer diverse career prospects. Tech based jobs such as audio-visual or sound technician, camera operator, Graphic designer will be available Skill-based jobs such as content creator, makeup artist, publicist, writer will be available. Considering the post covid development in M&E, 7-8 lakh job opportunities will be available in coming years. 12

Conclusion The pandemic proved to be a golden era for streaming platforms. In 2022,M&E expects to hopefully see the viewers returning. Customized viewing will take centre stage. AI will continue to transform the M&E landscape. 13
