2. Medical Research Medical research , also known as biomedical or health research , is the scientific process of studying human diseases, preventing and treating illnesses, and promoting health. It involves a wide range of research, from basic research to clinical research. Medical research is classified into primary and secondary research. Clinical/experimental studies are performed in primary research, whereas secondary research consolidates available studies as reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
