Importance of Meditation

Meditation provides a way of learning the art of how to let go. As we sit, the self we have been trying to construct and make into a nice near package continues to unravel

What is Meditation? Commonly known as Manan, Dhyaan or Sadhna in Hindi, it is a practice in which an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

What is Health? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity”.

Health Issues in the Modern World Most people in our generation have had some kind of disease or condition. This is a serious problem for the affected people and us as a society. These days mental and social illnesses are worse than being physically affected by a disease.

Consequences of Mental Illnesses. Mental illness is a leading cause of disability worldwide and is a major contributor to the overall global burden of disease. In the past people affected by mental illnesses were not considered as unhealthy rather confused and were neglected. This has continued in the present times as well where people are still being neglected leading to worsening conditions.

Symptoms of various Illnesses. Illnesses have a variety of symptoms, whether permanent or temporary. These can range from affecting our brain to changing habits. Some of these symptoms are – Affecting a person’s emotions making them emotionally unstable. Sudden changes in behavior and frequent mood swings. Difficulty in moving, lethargy etc

Treatment of Diseases. There are various ways to treat the illnesses and diseases, some of the ways are – Taking pharmaceutical drugs Taking medicine of homeopathy which may or may not work due to placebo effect Meditation and exercise Going out of our own bubble Talking to a doctor etc.
