Water ~ elixir of life Human body contains ~60%-70% water Water is essential for survival. Only a few days survive without water 🌊.

Distribution of water in our body Intra cellular fluid/ICF= 2/3 of total body water. Extra cellular fluid/ ecf = 1/3 plasma , interstitial fluid.

Function of water in human body physiology Maintain osmotic balance Medium for biochemical reactions Maintain body temperature Transport of nutrients oxygen etc. Removal of waste like urine, sweat πŸ’¦ Shock absorber ( brain, spinal cord, foetus amniotic fluid)

Water in metabolism Hydrolysis reaction Digestion of protein,fat and carbohydrates. Involved in ATP production

Water in homeostasis Regulates electrolyte balance ( sodium, pottasium , chloride ion Maintain blood volume and pressure Prevents dehydration and over hydration Controlled by hormone – adh , aldosterone , renin angiotensin system
