the systems,tools,and tecnology. Clay is easily
available in Mesopotamia because of the
rivers.Structures are easier to build using
bricks,and they are as sturdy as the ones built on
stones.Most structures in Sumer were bult out of
bricks such as houses,palaces,and temples called
ziggurat.Clay was also used as tablets where
pictographs of the cuneiform,the writing system of
Sumer,were engraved on.

Sumer.The word’’cuneiform” comes
from the word cuneus meaning “wedge
shaped”which was used to engrave
pictographs on clay tablets There are
1400 symbols used in cuneiform.
