Types of Boards
Universal Tool A black/green board or whiteboard is an universal tool which is available mostly in the classes. It is accessible to all teachers and students, including those who may struggle with digital tools or have limited access to technology.
Board Writing Board writing is a fundamental teaching skill that enhances learning by providing clear, organized, and interactive instruction. It supports; visual and kinesthetic learners, promotes student engagement, reinforces memory retention
The purpose of using board as a visual aid To write the important points To write the difficult spellings To highlight key point of the lesson To draw figures/diagram/graph/pictures etc. To maintain students’ attention To pose questions or problems and check for student understanding.
Components of the Skill Legibility Size and Alignment Highlighting main points Utilization of the space Correctness Blackboard Summary Position of the teacher Eye contact with the pupils Cleaning of the Board
Legibility Proper Space between words and alphabets Neatness of the board work Appropriateness of the words
Size and Alignment Font size of the alphabets All capital alphabets of same size All small alphabets of same size Sentences should be align with the horizontal line of the board
Highlight main Points Underline the main points Use different colors chalk Use heading and subheadings
Utilization of the Space Overwriting should be avoided Write relevant material only Retain essential material only Divide the board space as per the need of the lesson
Correctness The teacher should be careful about; Correct spelling, punctuation, Grammar Correct Diagram/figures/graphs
Blackboard Summary In order to make teaching meaningful to the learners the teacher should develop blackboard summary at the end of the lesson. This should be so brief that the learners can recollect the whole lesson at a glance. Utilization of the space

Points to remember……
While Writing Speak simultaneously while writing on the board to address the need of Auditory learner. Take a round to check all the students are noting down or they may have some issues in understanding the words written on the board
Points to be taken care of Use print letters rather than cursive for better readability. Use high-quality chalk or markers that are easy to read and don’t smudge. Use pointer to emphasis on important information/point. Allow students to come up to the board Review your board writing frequently and try to improve if needed
