●An process to monitor the network element (NE)
●Usually divided in to 2 parts:
○NE - network element
○Monitoring server -> to monitor the NE
●Example protocol
○SNMP
○RouterOS
○etc...

Why do we need network management?
FCAPS
●Fault: Dont let customer knows our problem first
●Configuration: make sure the configuration is correct
●Accounting: usage monitoring
●Performance: highest peak, SLA (service level agreement)
●Security: authentication, authorization, confidentiality

●Dude is integrated back to RouterOS package

Dude policy
You need to add a dude policy on routerOS user, so that they can access the
dude server from the dude client

Things to consider
●Disk space on RouterBOARDS!!
○Its not recommend to install the dude on small and checp mikrotik devices, because:
■The dude requires CPU procesing
■The dude will eat up space there
●Regular Backups
●Use secure mode

●Meaning: it can monitor non-mikrotik NE as long as the SNMP is enabled
