DIETMS Aurangabad. Title of Project :-Design And Fabrication Of Mini Wind Mill. Submitted By :- Shubham Galphade . Onkar Nalawade . Prashant Sable. Under Guidence of :- Prof. Tejas Patil .
What is Wind Power Plant ? A wind farm or wind park, also called a wind power station or wind power plant, is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electricity. Wind farms vary in size from a small number of turbines to several hundred wind turbines covering an extensive area.
What is Mini Wind Power Mill ? As the topic name itself suggest that it is the working prototype which is small in size as compared to the existing wind power plant.
Working Principal Of Mini Wind Mill :- Wind turbines operate on a simple principle. The energy in the wind turns two or three propeller-like blades around a rotor. The rotor is connected to the main shaft, which spins a generator to create electricity . How Does The Actual Wind Turbine Works ? There is an air turbine of large blades attached on the top of a supporting tower of sufficient height. When wind strikes on the turbine blades, the turbine rotates due to the design and alignment of rotor blades. The shaft of the turbine is coupled with an electrical generator. The output of the generator is collected through electric power cables.
Material Selection For The project :- PVC Fittings - a) 4 Elbows b) 4 T’s Copper Wire – It is the nacelle Which is the part that houses the generator in wind turbine. Screw – Which is used for electricity outlet. Mini Motor. Fan Or Blades – Ensure That it is of very low in weight. Rotor.
Cost Estimation :- SR. No MATERIAL COST ( Rs ) 1. PVC Fittings – Elbows And T’s ( 4 Each) 150 2. Copper Wire 20 3. Screw 5 4. Mini Motor 20 5. Fan or Blade 10 6. Rotor 10 Total Cost (Approximately) 220
Design Of Mini Wind Mill :-
How It Is Made ? The arrangement of base is made by using PVC pipes and Elbows. The arrangement of tower is done by using PVC pipe and T’s. Copper wire is inserted into the tower. Mini Motor attached to the upper end of tower. Another end of wire is attached to the bottom end or base with a screw. Fan is attached to the motor with the help of rotor. As fan which is coupled with a rotor rotates with the help of atmospheric air, nacelle works as a generator which is coupled with a rotor which results in producing of electricity. The output we can measure by using voltmeter.
Advantages :- The wind is free and the modern technology it can be captured efficiently. As much as the flow of wind is heigher we get more electricity. It does not cause green house gases and other pollutants.
Disadvantage :- The strength of the wind is not constant and it varies from zero to storm force. This means the setup do not produce the same amount of electricity all the time. If the flow of heat is less then it produces less amount of electricity.
