MIRAJ CITY Overview Miraj is a city in southern Maharashtra , India , that was founded in the early 10th century. It was an important Jagir of the Adil Shahi Court of Bijapur . Chhatrapati Shivaji stayed in Miraj for two months during his South India Campaign. Because of its location, Miraj has been held as a strategic bastion, There were many remains of the fort but they have been demolished to construct the road.it was the capital of Miraj Senior and an important junction on the central railway network. The Pathwardhan family were the hereditary rulers of Miraj until independence. Miraj City is part of the Sangli-Miraj- Kupwad Municipal Corporation formed in 1999. The city is recognised for performance of Hindustani classical music , for its medical services and as a place of religious harmony. Ganesh festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and The annual Ganesh Visarjan procession is an attraction which lasts for an average of twenty hours. Miraj is mainly recognised for medical where people from karnataka and Arab countries do visit for medical treatment.Even its is famous for string instruments where many of great artist choose miraj to buy musical instruments and mainly satar . MIRAJ DARGAH The Meerasaheb Dargah
The Meerasaheb dargah is a common worship centre for both Muslim and Hindu communities located near the railway station of Miraj . Thousands of people flock to Dargah on every Thursday morning to get the blessings of Hazarat Meerasaheb and his son Hazarat Shamsuddin Hussein. Hazrat Meerasaheb was a great Sufi saint of his time.It is said that on the command of Allah he migrated to India from Mecca (Saudi Arabia). He propagated Islam through his life. Every year URS (martyrdom day) is celebrated with millions of people visits this shrine for offering their salutes .
GANESH TALAV
A famous place for Ganesh Visarjan . Also known as Sanitary system & to wash clothes which is spoiling its beauty. This lake was dug by head of Miraj Princely state - Patwardhan Sarkar as drought relief work. The black stone recovered from digging is used for constructing Ganesh temple that stands in front of the main entrance of the lake. The other construction made of these stones is old building of Miraj police station standing in Miraj Market.

To overcome this issue, a joint project was then requested by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis . After further research, and many changes in plan, Miraj was chosen to transport water to Latur from 342 km. [1] The " Jaldoot " train made its first experimental run on 11 April 2016, carrying 10 tanker wagons, each filled with 50,000 litres of water.
