HIGHWAY PROJECTS

BHARATMALA PARIYOJANA (PROJECT) Centrally-sponsored and funded Road and Highways project. 83,677 km (51,994 mi) Build highways from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and then cover the entire string of Himalayan territories - Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand - and then portions of borders of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar alongside Terai, and move to West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and right up to the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur and Mizoram. Special emphasis will be given on providing connectivity to far-flung border and rural areas including the tribal and backward areas. Bharatmala Project will interconnect 550 District Headquarters (from current 300)through a minimum 4-lane highway by raising the number of corridors to 50 (from current 6) Move 80% freight traffic (40% currently) to National Highways by interconnecting 24 logistics parks, 66 inter-corridors (IC) of total 8,000 km (5,000 mi), 116 feeder routes (FR) of total 7,500 km (4,700 mi) and 7 north east Multi-Modal waterway ports.

THE SAGARMALA PROGRAMME Envisages unlocking the potential of waterways and the coastline to minimize infrastructural investments required to meet these targets. Developing of 14 Coastal Economic Zones (CEZs) and Coastal Economic Units. Enhancing port connectivity via road, rail, multi-modal logistics parks, pipelines & waterways and promoting coastal community development Generating around 10,000,000 direct and indirect jobs. Flagship programme of the Ministry of Shipping to promote port-led development in the country Exploiting India's 7,517 km long coastline, 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways and its strategic location on key international maritime trade routes. Aims at "transforming the existing Ports into modern world-class Ports and integrate the evacuation systems through road, rail, inland and coastal waterways resulting in Ports becoming the drivers of economic activity in coastal areas."

CENTRAL VISTA PROJECT

CENTRAL VISTA REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT Redevelopment to revamp the Central Vista, India's central administrative area located near Raisina Hill, New Delhi. Originally designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker during British colonial rule and was retained after independence. Scheduled between 2020 and 2024, the project as of 2020 aims to revamp a 3 km (1.9 mi) long Rajpath between Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate. Convert North and South Blocks to publicly accessible museums Creating a new common Central Secretariat to house all ministries.

CENTRAL VISTA REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT New Parliament building near the present one with increased seating capacity for future expansion, New residence and office for the Vice President and the Prime Minister near the North and South Blocks Convert some of the older structures into museums. Cost ₹971 crore (US$140 million)spread over four years. Contract of only two projects worth Rs.1339 crores have been awarded till now. These include New Parliament building and rejuvenation of Central Vista Avenue at an estimated cost of Rs.862 crores and Rs.477 crores respectively.

CYCLONES CYCLONE TAUKTAE The first cyclonic storm of 2021 . Hit southern Gujarat on 17 May 2021. Classified as a VERY SEVERE CYCLONIC STORM (VSCS). 24 people were killed across three Indian states. Twelve people died in Maharashtra, eight in Karnataka, and four people in Gujarat. CYCLONE YAAS Cyclonic storm,, formed in the Bay of Bengal and hit West Bengal and adjoining Odisha coasts on 26 May 2021. The name of the cyclone is given by Oman.  CYCLONE AMPHAN Cyclone Amphan was a  powerful tropical cyclone. L ed to the destruction of lives and property in Odisha and West Bengal. F irst pre-monsoon super cyclone of this century that emerged from the Bay of Bengal. 

CYCLONES CYCLONE KYARR  S econd strongest tropical cyclone since CYCLONE GONU in 2007. Developed in the Arabian Sea and moved towards the Gulf of Aden from the Indian coast. Western India, Oman, UAE, Socotra and Somalia.  CYCLONE MAHA E xtremely severe cyclonic storm that became very intense while moving parallel to the Indian coast. Landfall near Gujarat as a depression that weakened afterwards.  CYCLONE VAYU E merged from the Arabian Sea A very severe cyclonic storm that caused max damage in Gujarat. S trongest cyclone that hit the state since the 1998 Gujarat Cyclone. Along with India, also affected Maldives, Pakistan and Oman. CYCLON HIKKA E merged from the Arabian Sea and turned intense and hit Oman. IN 2019, 4 CYCLONES EMERGED FROM THE ARABIAN SEA-- KYARR, MAHA, VAYU AND HIKKA.  CYCLONE FANI S trongest tropical storm that hit Odisha since the 1998 Odisha Cyclone. Emerged from the Indian Ocean and caused huge destruction in Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and East India. Outside India, it hit Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.

THE "SAVE THE GIRL CHILD" MOVEMENT WAS LAUNCHED ON 22 JANUARY 2015 ONE STOP CENTRE SCHEME POPULARLY KNOWN AS 'SAKHI,’ IMPLEMENTED ON 1ST APRIL 2015 WITH THE 'NIRBHAYA' FUND. ONE STOP CENTRES ARE ESTABLISHED AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN INDIA FOR PROVIDING SHELTER, POLICE DESK, LEGAL, MEDICAL AND COUNSELLING SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE UNDER ONE ROOF INTEGRATED WITH A 24-HOUR HELPLINE.

STEP THE SUPPORT TO TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME FOR WOMEN (STEP) TO PROVIDE SKILLS THAT GIVE EMPLOYABILITY TO WOMEN. SCHEMES FOR FARMERS National Mission For Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) promotes location specific sustainable and best farming practices; soil conservation and moisture protection measures; efficient and sustainable water management practices ‘On Farm Water Management’ (OFWM) is being implemented’ Promoting modern technologies such as micro irrigation and sustainable water management practices Efficient water consumption, better distribution channels along with secondary storage facilities. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) PMFBY launched from Kharif 2016 season to support production in agriculture by providing an affordable crop insurance system. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) to extend the coverage of irrigation and improving water use efficiency in a focused manner. PMKSY focuses end to end solution on source creation, distribution, management, field application and extension activities Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) encourage farmers for traditional and organic farming in India. Under the scheme, the Government provides a financial assistance to the farmers of Rs 50,000 per hectare every three years for organic inputs, certification, labelling, packaging, transportation and marketing of organic produce.

SCHEMES FOR FARMERS MICRO IRRIGATION FUND SCHEME National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)has created a Micro Irrigation Fund with a corpus of Rs. 5,000 crore implemented from 2019-20. Objective is to facilitate the states in availing an interest subvented loan for expanding coverage of micro irrigation facilities by taking up special and innovative projects. incentivising micro irrigation beyond the provisions available under PMKSY to encourage farmers to install micro irrigation systems. MISSION ORGANIC VALUE CHAIN DEVELOPMENT FOR NORTH EASTERN REGION (MOVCDNER) To develop the certified organic production in a value Chain mode. To link farmers with consumers To support the development of entire value chain starting From organic inputs, seeds, certification and creation of facilities for collection, aggregation, processing, marketing and brand building initiatives. Being implemented in north eastern states Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura

SCHEMES FOR FARMERS E-NAM A common online market platform for trading agricultural commodities, a pan-India portal, e-National Agriculture Market ( eNAM ) launched on April 14, 2016. Connected nearly 1,000 mandis in 18 states and three union territories. Implemented by Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), Aims at reducing transaction costs, bridging information asymmetries, and helping expansion of market access for farmers. Since the implementation, e-NAM has registered a user base of 1.66 crore farmers, 1.31 lakh traders, 73,151 commission agents and 1,012 farmer producer organisation (FPOs). Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Provide adequate and timely credit to the farmers for their agricultural expenditures. Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme launched in the year 1998. Provides farm credit at a very subsidised rate of 4 percent per annum. Since 2019, the Centre has extended the benefits of Kisan Credit Card to animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries farmers for their working capital requirement and raising the existing limit of collateral free loan from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs.1.60 lakh.

SCHEMES FOR FARMERS SOIL HEALTH CARD With an objective of conserving and maintaining soil nutrient and soil fertility. Soil Health Card (SHC) scheme issued soil health cards to the farmers every two years to provide a basis to address nutritional deficiencies in the fields. Under the scheme, soil testing is conducted to analyse the nutrient needs, then crop-wise fertilisers are recommended accordingly. This reduces cultivation cost by application of right fertilisers with right quantity. In the next five years, 400,000 villages targeted to be covered under individual farm holding soil sampling and testing, organise 2.5 lakh demonstrations, set up of 250 village level soil testing labs, strengthening 200 soil testing labs and promotion of micro-nutrients in two lakh hectare area. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana Lunched on February 24, 2019, Transferring of Rs 6,000 per annum directly to the farmers’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT Three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. Supplements the financial needs of the small and marginal farmers in buying farm inputs and other agricultural expenses, Aims to protect the farmers from falling in the vicious traps of local moneylenders and ensures their continuance in the farming activities.

SCHEMES FOR FARMERS PM-KUSUM In order to reduce the consumption of diesel and electricity for agricultural irrigation, PRADHAN MANTRI KISAN URJA SURAKSHA EVAM UTTHAAN MAHABHIYAAN (PM-KUSUM) SCHEME IN FEBRUARY 19, 2019. Central financial support of Rs 34,422 crore, Aims to add solar and other renewable capacity of 25,750 MW by 2022. Under the scheme, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has targeted to install 10,000 MW of decentralised grid connected renewable power plants. Individual plant size up to 2 MW, installation of 20 lakh solar powered agricultural pumps of individual pump capacity up to 7.5 HP and solarisation of 15 lakh grid-connected irrigation pumps of individual capacity up to 7.5 HP.
