MRT- MASS RAPID TRANSIT TRANSPORTATION AND ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE SOCIETY
BACKGROUND MRT = Mass Rapid Transit 3 line MRT System in the Greater Kuala Lumpur conurbation in Malaysia. Visualizes a “wheel and spoke” concept MRT Corp founded in September 2011, managed by Prasarana Malaysia Berhad . MRT project involves the construction of a rail- based public transport network which, together with the existing LRT, Monorail, KTM Komuter , KLIA Express, KLIA transit system. Operation hours: Mon - Fri: 6.00 am – 12.00 am Sat – Sun: 6.00 am – 11.00 pm Distance is 51 km and takes 90 minutes from Sungai Buloh to Kajang .
alignment Line will pass through the city center 2 types of stations: 1. Elevated stations - based on wakaf . Wakaf is a traditional pavilion that found in Malaysia built for travellers to stop and rest. 24 out of 31 are elevated stations. 2. Underground stations – have individual design themes that reflect station’s unique locale and environment. Distance for underground stations is 9.5 km from Muzium Negara to Maluri .
Have 2 phases. As for the opening, only 12 stations in Phase 1. Phase 2 of MRT is scheduled for operations in July 2017 covering the remaining 19 stations from Semantan to Kajang .
Why mrt are designed? To make an effective, efficient, integrated MRT system safely on time and within cost. Increase the current insufficient rail network. Reduce the severe traffic congestion in the Greater KL metropolitan area. Represents one of the economic entry point project identified for the Greater KL. To radically improve and transform KL’s poor and sorely inadequate public transportation coverage.
