My Formula for AI-Generated Text Content Stephen Morrissey
Overview Who's talking to you Some background on AI The current limitations of AI The formula I use The gaps you need to fill Note: There will be a QR code that links to this presentation at the end

What is AI?
Artificial Intelligence has deep roots 70+ years ago, computers started as highly specialized tools General purpose computers evolved over time, with a growing list of commands The concept of AI has evolved over the years 1950 The concept of the Turing Test 1967 ELIZA text chat therapy tool 1997 Kasparov vs Deep Blue 2011 Watson on Jeopardy! 3D graphics in movies and gaming pushed engineers to develop the chips that now power AI, VR, AR, and Blockchain
We've had a lot of time to make things complex Human societies and culture has existed for over 11,000 years, and pack a lot into their communication methods. AI needs to be taught the nuances of: Common Sense Taste Context Göbekli Tepe, 9500 BCE
The Complexity of Human Communication Consider the factors that contribute to culturally relevant things such as: Humor Fashion Faith
With all that said… here's the formula
The formula for great AI-generated text R.I.S.E.N. is a 5-step formula I use for creating a starting point on content projects Role: Who am I writing/talking as? Instruction: What am I doing? Steps: How am I doing it? End Result: Why am I doing it? Narrow Scope: With what limitations?
Some examples
Long-Form Blog Article Role: "Act as a seasoned yoga blogger." Instruction: "Write a blog article with tips about starting yoga." Steps: "Create an introductory hook, five main points, and a summary conclusion with a call to action to join our email list." End Result: "This is for beginner yoga practitioners looking to deepen their understanding of yoga." Narrow Scope: "Write this with 1,500-2,500 words."
Long-Form Social Media Post Role: "Act as a fitness guru posting on LinkedIn." Instruction: "Write a social media post about weekly meal prepping." Steps: "Introduce the concept of weekly meal prepping in 2-3 sentences. Enumerate the different ways it can help you save time and stick to a diet. End by asking the reader to like and share the post so others can learn about this valuable life hack." End Result: "This is meant to educate and inspire mid-level fitness enthusiasts." Narrow Scope: "Write this with 1,300-2,000 characters."
Short-Form Social Media Posts Role: "Act as a home organization expert" Instruction: "Write 15 social media posts with home organization, storage, or decluttering tips." End Result: "This is meant to help early adult renters make better use of their limited space." Narrow Scope: "Each post should be 40-80 characters."
A few words of caution
The takeaways besides the formula Be aware of privacy and data sources AI is trained on vast pools of data, some of which may be illegally obtained Content you create using commonly used tools could be used to train AI systems AI-generated text should only be a starting point. You can never not check AI-generated text output before publishing This text will not contain any elements of your branding's voice & tone "How are you doing?" You still need a deep understanding of who your audience is and why they will care about the content.
Many options to choose from The generative AI landscape is growing every day. Many hope to be bought by a larger company and integrated into a broader application ecosystem
