Personal Career Journey

My Brand Archetype: The explorer, I have always wanted to blaze my own path away from my family norms. Early in life, I felt as though I had to follow those norms, but as I get older, I realize that going after what I find enjoyable is far more important to me. Hero's Journey: My life as a child was all about one thing working on cars and sports. Only one of those things I chose to do the other was forced upon me. As I got older, I gave in to what was expected rather than what was wanted, and now with more life experience under my belt, I am grabbing what I want and taking it. My journey has just gotten started. Brand Statement: Darrel Humphrey is a U.S. Air Force Veteran with experience in aircraft machinery, maintenance, and logistics. Accustomed to working in various fast-paced manufacturing settings with an emphasis on quality management. With multiple years of experience in leadership at the highest level and where decision-making was at its most crucial.

Hello! I am Darrel Humphrey Future sports marketing team member! 3

Early Life Small Town Living

People in small towns, much more than in cities, share a destiny. -Richard Russo

Norwich Born and raised in a town of 5,000 people. Born with a wrench in my hand, Raised in a garage. Graduated in a class of 85 people and couldn’t leave fast enough 6

United States Air Force Life away from home.

Basic For two months in the Texas heat, I was pushed to the mental and physical limits. It taught me that I could accomplish any of my goals if I continue to put my head down and keep working. Training Tech Taught how to fix Airplanes a not so far cry from the cars I always grew up fixing. It always was interesting to me how I had never flown on a plane before I left for training and now, I was entrusted to fix them safely for others to use. 8

Assignments Japan I spent the first two years of my adult life living in a country that didn’t speak the same language as me on the other side of the planet from all my loved ones. Although I was in a different country I lived on base among other Americans. England Most of my military career was spent in England I got my first house there and experienced living life amongst a different nationality. Seeing different customs and practices up close was so interesting. South Dakota Back among Americans in America, a lot had changed in six years I felt like an outsider because I adopted many customs and practices from my friends in England and I did not fit in. 9

Reunited After seven years away from home I moved back to be reunited with my family.

Timeline

Self-Reflection At an early age, it felt like destiny that I would stay in my hometown and work on cars like every other male in my family before me. One day when I was going to high school, they had military recruiters outside our lunchroom, and the Air Force poster said Aim High. So as a person who did not want to go into the family business and just wanted to escape small town USA, I jumped at the opportunity to try something new. Unfortunately for me, when I joined the USAF signed me up to be an airplane mechanic. At this point, it felt as though my destiny of being a mechanic was inescapable, and for seven long years, I did the job I despised doing but had to do it. After I left the military in 2019, I immediately went into making airplane parts I had experienced, and it felt unavoidable, so I leaned into it, but after about three years of feeling completely unhappy, I decided enough was enough I wanted to be a part of something I loved and enjoyed so I joined Full Sail University with the aspirations of doing so, I have always been in love with sports and intrigued by the inner working of marketing and promoting a sports team. Attending School felt like the most logical and realistic way to accomplish my lifelong dreams of working on a marketing team for a major sports team. Growing up, I wanted to be a part of the Green Bay Packers in the worst way, and I still dream about that now, and hopefully, one day, those dreams will be realized.

Thanks! I hope you have a wonderful day! Don’t be afraid of your dreams, be proud of them! 18
