2. Resources I am using I am using an iPhone 14 to shoot my film; this is mainly due to the budget restrictions as I cannot afford an advanced camera to record my short film. Despite this, the iPhone 14 still has a very impressive camera, and is plenty for the aim of my short film. It allows for me to shoot in 4K HDR and specifically at 24 frames per second which is vital for me to get the cinematic look of my film.

3. Resources I am using For this short film, I am also using a tripod with a phone attachment bracket, this allows for me to get nice still shots with my iPhone 14, and for a lot of scenes, may cut a lot of problems out of the production process, as it allows for hands-free shooting. Due to time limitations, I can’t always have a camera operator present so this will help a lot and will obviously help to stabilize the grand stills that I am aim to shoot in this short film.

4. Resources I am using As an extra measure, I am going to use a gimbal for some scenes in the film. This is mainly for the tracking shots that I aim to do, it will help keep the camera as stable as possible so that it is not distracting to the audience. The gimbal also doubles as a small tripod, so this will help in case the dedicated tripod is damaged or lost during production of the short film.

5. Shooting Day 1 – 6th March 2024 Today is the first day of shooting for my production, Damaged Goods. I am going to be shooting somewhere that my friend (and cast member) Leo suggested I'd go, which is in Seaham. I have never actually been in Seaham properly before, so this is a little bit out of my comfort zone. Arriving to the location, It was all worth it as it is exactly what I needed to shoot for this chapter of my short film. This is quite a dark, twisted and confusing part of my story and the location reflects this perfectly. I have come prepared today with a fully charged iPhone 14 and a gimbal to make some of my shots as professional as I can make them with the equipment available to me.

6. Shooting Day 1 Location This was the location that I first chose to shoot at, as it matches the mood of the scene that I wrote. The time of day was perfect for this location as it wasn’t too bright but also not too dark, it will fit right for the black and white that I intend to make this part of the film in.

7. Editing Day 1 – 7 th March 2024 The first day of editing was a day for relearning how to handle the format in which my iPhone shoots in. A problem I faced is Premiere Pro not fully understanding the file format for the files shot by my iPhone 14, however, this problem was easily fixed by instead of dragging and dropping the files in to the timeline, I had to press the “import” button which wasn’t very convenient however it worked.

8. Behind The Scenes These are various pictures taken of the production of my short film, the locations may vary depending on the scene that was being shot.

9. Shooting Day 2 – 11 th March 2024 This is my 2 nd day of shooting for my short film. Today I am going to be shooting inside my own home for a more personal chapter of the film. This chapter goes over the character’s personal life and how it is slowly being eaten up by ‘the bag’. I am all on my own today, so I will have to come up with some creative shot decisions to mask the lack of camera operator. As I was about to shoot, I have discovered that my tripod has snapped, so I will have to do without as rescheduling is not an option. Shooting was quite successful, I filmed everything that needed to be filmed today.

10. Shooting Day 2 Location As mentioned prior, I have shot this part of the film in my home, which is a perfect place to shoot for this chapter. The time of the day was mainly in the morning, so I could get the light pouring in everywhere to set the mood as a slightly happy and comforting mood.

12. Shooting Day 3 – 24 th March 2024 This day was a failure. Not only was the weather far too windy and dull to fill at all, thanks to the wind the audio would have been unusable. The location was Penshaw Monument which is an iconic landmark in Sunderland and would have been a very interesting place to film.

14. Shooting Day 3 – 25 th March 2024 This is my 3 rd day, and it should be final day of primary shooting. I hope to get the entire other half of the short film shot today. I will be shooting around the college that I go to as it has a few nice locations to shoot which I have scouted. I am with Leo again today so this should make shooting and producing ideas on the spot much easier than the last day of shooting. Thanks to my college being in the area, I will be able to lend equipment from the college to shoot today.

15. Shooting Day 3 – 25 th March 2024 For today, I have been able to have Leon Brailey who was the camera man for some of the scenes today. This will be very helpful for recording the scenes with dialogue and other actions in it. Filming today is on a very tight schedule, so I have to film around 3 chapters of the film in under 2 hours. This will be a big challenge, but I believe that if I plan ahead with the shots that I want to use in mind I will succeed in reaching the deadline. Filming was surprisingly, successful that is a wrap on the filming of my short film!
