NAINITAL- A HEAVEN CITY

Nainital Nainital is located at 29.38°N 79.45°E . The slopes of the nearby mountains are most populated, with an elevation ranging from 1940 mts to 2100 meters. The highest point nearby is Naina Peak or China Peak, with an elevation of 2619 mts.

  As of the 2001 Indian census , Nainital had a population of 38,559. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Nainital has an average literacy rate of 91%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 98%, and female literacy is 86%. In Nainital, 1% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Nainital Getting There - How To Reach By air : Pant Nagar Airport is situated in Uttarakhand state and is one of the two airports of Uttarakhand. Pant Nagar is the nearest airport to Kathgodam . By Rail : Kathgodam is the nearest railway station to Nainital, situated at a distance of 41kms. Kathgodam is well connected by Railway networks with major destinations of India like Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata..

Why is Nainital Famous Hill Station in India ? Nainital is famous for the Naini Lake where it is believed that Lord Shiva performed his tandava with Parvati’s body. The Naini peak or the China peak is the highest in Nainital with a height of 2611mts. Some of the other places of tourist interest are the Mall, now known as the Govind Ballabh Pant Marg. You can find restaurants, offices and hotels all located in the Mall.

Nainital Lake- it is situated in the heart of the city and it is owing to this lake that Nainital earned its name. The eye-shaped lake is a tourist hotspot and acts as a magnet for all those visiting the hill resort.

A scientific study indicates that the open drains feeding the lake introduce toxic substances from the catchment of the lake, particularly heavy metals which get adsorbed onto the suspended sediments, which in turn settle down in the bottom of the lake. A study of the risk assessment code has revealed that 4–13% of manganese, 4–8% of copper, 17–24% of nickel, 3–5% of chromium, 13–26% of lead, 14–23% of cadmium and 2–3% of zinc exist in exchangeable fraction. Naina Peak It is one of the famous tourist places in Nainital. This peak is also popularly known as China or Cheena Peak. It is the highest peak in Nainital with a height of 2,615 meters. The top of the peak offers inspiring views of the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains as well as of Nainital town.

Naina Devi Temple: The deity of the temple is Maa Naina Devi represented by two eyes. The temple was destroyed by the drastic landslide of 1880, and was later rebuilt because the temple was of great importance amongst locals. Naina Devi Temple is located on the northern shore of Naini Lake.

Aerial Ropeway The Aerial Ropeway commences at Mallital and is connected with Snow view point situated at a breathtaking elevation of 2275mts above sea level. The capacity of the trolley cabin is 11 persons or 800kgs of weight . The trolley is opened for seven days a week. The ticket for adult is Rs. 100 and Rs. 60 for child.

The Mall Road Mall road nexuses Mallital with Tallital and thus is busiest road of the town. During peak season (May and June) vehicles are not allowed to enter mall road so that the trade keeps on strolling as this point is famous amongst tourists. Mall road is now named as Govind Ballabh Pant Marg.

Eco Cave Garden Eco Cave Garden is located one kilometer above Mallital near Kumaon University Campus. This spot is a latest tourism spot of Nainital. Cave Garden offers caves of different kinds of animals which you can explore by going in it. There are no real animals there for sure.

Corbett Water Falls Corbett fall is situated 25 kilometres from ramnagar. Thick teak wood jungles and a narrow road 1.7 kilometers inside is an out of the world experience. The best thing all along has been the chirpings of birds in the background and sound of flowing water.

Snow view point offers the invigorating view of snow clad peaks of the majestic Himalayan range like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Nanda Kot. Snow view is the most easily accessible cliff amongst other nearby mountains surrounding Nainital. The peak is connected by motorable roads and aerial ropeway or cable car. SNOW POINT

Sattal Meaning group of seven lakes all nested together, about 23 kms from nainital at an altitude of 1370 metres still untouched by modernization. Seven lakes of sattal are panna tal or garud tal, nal-damyanti tal, purna tal, sita tal, ram tal, laxman tal.

Bhimtal Bhimtal is one of the largest lake around Nainital named after Bhima of Mahabharata. It has an island in the centre approached only by a boat and at present it has an aquarium also. A family of ducks has made the lake their home and give company to the lake visitor. It is much less crowded than Nainital and the lake.

Khurpatal is one of the many lakes in Nainital region. It lies in the depression formed by movements in the earth’s crust. Steep slopes surround this water body. Ecological degradation begun in this lake due to excessive inflow of sediments and sewage from surrounding areas . KHURPATAL

Sariyatal is about 5 kms away from Nainital on the way to Kaladhungi, a beautiful tourist spot in Nainital. It is a very good place to pass some time enjoying the beauty of nature. SARIYATAL

Tiffin Top Tiffin Top is situated 4km from Nainital set at an altitude of 2,292mts above sea level on Ayarpatta hill commanding splendor views of the neighboring country side and the majestic Himalayan range. Tiffin Top & Lands end can be covered at a stretch as both spots are located side by side .
