The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) measures the aptitude of the applicant
for specific field of study i.e. Architecture.

Council of Architecture (COA) through its academic unit-National Institute of Advanced
Studies in Architecture (NIASA) at Pune, has been conducting National Aptitude Test in
Architecture (NATA). NATA is an online examination for admission to B.Arch. Degree Course
at all COA approved architectural institutions in the country (including NITs, IITs,
Government Institutions, Government aided Institutions, Deemed Universities and Private
Universities established by a Central or State legislature and other private institutions),
since academic session 2006-2007.

• The general eligibility for taking admission to B.Arch (as well as for taking NATA
Test) is 10 + 2 (Science stream) from a recognized University/Board with
Mathematics as a subject.
• Some Institute required a minimum percentage of marks (50%-60% depending on
the Institute) in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at the qualifying exam (10+2).
• Some Institutes, like School of Planning and Architecture, require physical fitness
certificate of candidates from a registered medical practitioner during the time of
admission.

No. NATA is just an Aptitude Test. On receiving the Score Card, the candidate will have to
contact various admission authorities with NATA Score Card and other details (as prescribed
by the respective Admission Authorities). Admission in India lies with the State (usually under
Directorate of Technical Education for that state).
