New National health policy is declared by government in September 2002

2. National health policy-2002 Union government declared the new national health policy in September 2002 of the NHP -2002 is to achieve an acceptable standard of good health amongst the general population of country through an increased access to the decentralised public health system. this objective is planned to be achieved by establishing a new infrastructure in deficient areas by upgrading the infrastructure in the existing institutions

3. Equitable access to health services will receive focus. Emphasis will be given to increase the aggregate public health investment through substantial increased contribution by the central government. It is expected that this initiative will strengthen the capacity of public health administration at the state level to render effective service delivery. The contribution of the private sector is provided health services would be much enhanced, particularly for the population growth which can afford to pay for services. Within this broad objectives time bound goals have been specified.
