ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: a. identify and understand the seven (7) Environmental Principles; b. recognize the importance of Environmental Laws; and c. actively participate in the good practices regarding Environmental Protection.
Environmental protection is the practice of protecting the natural environment by individual, groups and governments. Its objectives are to conserve natural resources, r educe Pollution , e ducating and engaging Communities, and encouraging green technology and innovation. What is ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION?
Seven (7) Environmental Principles 1. Everything is connected to everything else. 2. All forms of life are important. 3. Everything must go somewhere. 4. Ours is a finite earth. 5. Nature knows best. 6. Nature is beautiful and we are stewards of God’s creation. 7. Everything changes.
ACTIVITY: DIRECTION: Divide the class into 7 groups. Each group will be assigned each of the seven (7) environmental protection. Identify and understand the assigned environmental protection with your groupmates. Write your answer in a ½ sheet of paper, don’t forget to write your group number, the members of the group and the date today. Then, choose one representative to present your task.
ENVIRONMENTAL LAWS R.A. 9003 – Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 – the law aims to adopt a systematic, comprehensive and ecological solid waste management program that shall ensure the protection of public health and environment. R.A. 9275 – Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 – the law aims to protect the country’s water bodies from pollution from land-based sources. R.A. 6969 – Toxic Substances, Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control Act of 1990 – the law aims to protect the county’s water bodies from pollution from land-based sources that provides for comprehensive and integrated strategy. R.A. 8435 – Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act of 1997 – it establishes that the Department of Agriculture, together with other appropriate agencies, should take into account climate change. R.A. 9513 – Renewable Energy Act of 2008 – It promotes the development, utilization and commercialization of renewable energy resources.
