National Symbols It is a symbols of independent. It is important for national identity and sovereignty. Bhutan has its own unique national symbols. National symbols of Bhutan include national flag, dress, emblem, language, bird, animal, tree, flower and game.

It is a symbol of independence and national identity. The upper yellow part signifies authority of the king. The lower orange part signifies the spiritual power of Buddhism. Dragon in the middle symbolizes the name of our country, Drukyul . Land of Thunder dragon. White color signifies purity, the beautiful jewels in the hand of dragon symbolizes the wealth. Open mouth of dragon is a symbol of deities protecting the land from evils. 1. National flag

It is a patriotic song. It is sung to praise our country. It is called Gyalong Tenzug . Singing our national anthem gives us sense of happiness and pride of being a Bhutanese. 2. National Anthem

The most important symbol of our country. It makes us different from rest of the world. Males wear Gho and female wear Kira . 3. National Dress

It is on 17 of December. To mark the coronation of Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck as first Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan. People come together to celebrate and pay respect and homage to our king. 4. National Day

The national language of Bhutan is Dzongkha. It is the official language spoken by most of the people in Bhutan. It is also a symbol of identity and sovereignty of our country. 5. National language

It is called Blue Poppy. Locally known as “ Tsherngoen Meto ”. It is found in high mountains. It takes 2 – 3 years for seed to grow into plant. It is said that blue blood runs through it and it’s a rare flower. 6. National flower

It is called Cypress tree. Locally known as Tsendhen Shing . Cypress tree as significance in the history, culture and tradition of Bhutan. Mostly found near religious structures in temperate zone between altitudes of 1800m to 3500m. 7. National Tree

It is called Raven. Locally known as Jaro Dongchen . Found in alpine region and it represents Mahakala . One of the chief guardian deities of our country. It is also a prominent component of crown. 8 . National Bird

It is called as Takin . Locally called “Dong Gyem Tsey ” Mostly found in regions having altitude above 4000m It is said that in 15th century, a Tibetan saint, Drukpa Kuenley well-known as “ Divine Madman” created this unique animal . 9. National Animal

It is called Swallowtail. They are rare and are only found in Bhutan. They are found in Tobrang , a remote part of Bumdelling Wildlife Sanctuary. 10. National Butterfly

It is called Archery. Declared in 1971 as national sport. Mostly played during local festival and holidays to celebrate and socialize. 11 . National Game

Conclusion Every country has its own unique national symbols which makes one country different from another. There are various national symbols, living things or a non living things that makes a country special for having one. Celebration are celebrated at different levels, national and local levels to mark historical, religious and cultural significances with singing of the national anthem.
