It collects condition data that reveals equipment failure mechanisms and deterioration patterns.

SMARTER DECISIONS . 7 ‘ BE PROACTIVE WITH YOUR CONDITION MONITORING RESULTS’ By being proactive and deploying a condition monitoring strategy, you can measure the intensity or severity of your asset health condition.   Consider, condition monitoring engineer as a doctor of your assets. They will listen to the heartbeat of the asset (vibration analysis), take the bodily temperature (thermal profile analysis), collect blood sample (oil analysis), conduct electrocardiography (partial discharge)- all this will help to detect and diagnose impending failures or actual partial failures and then try to extend the person’s or asset’s life cycle based on the test results. ‘ THE ENDGAME OF CONDITION MONITORING’ So, we know that our assets and equipment are starting to deteriorate, right ? But what next? After installation and a period of reliable, stable operation, they start telling us that something is going wrong on the inside– or outside. What do we do with that information? We can use that powerful information to perform condition-based maintenance (CBM).   Condition Based Maintenance: An equipment maintenance strategy based on measuring the condition of equipment against known standards in order to assess whether it will fail during some future period and taking appropriate timely action to avoid the consequence of that failure. The term condition based maintenance (CBM), on-condition maintenance and predictive maintenance (PDM) can be used interchangeably.
