All deliveries need preparation!! About 10% need need some kind of assistance Less than 10% of this need intensive assistance during perinatal transition (<1% overall) But surprises do happen! A newborn without any risk factors also may need Resuscitation !!

Prepare for the worst !! – Every birth can be a potential Emergency Antenatal Assessment of Risk & plan Expected gestational age Amniotic fluid clear? Any antenatal/perinatal risk factors? Umbilical cord management plan

Risk factors that increase likelihood of resuscitation

Preparation of Personnel Every delivery (without risk factors) – At least 1 who is well versed with Neonatal Resuscitation. (With emergency assistance call in place, with readily available complete resuscitation team) Every High risk delivery (with any of the risk factors as above) – Atleast 2 or more as anticipated with atleast 1 with advanced NRP & with emergency assistance as needed.
