This realm includes South America, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and southern North America. In Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula and southern lowlands, and most of the east and west coastlines, including the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula are Neotropical.The vegetational division roughly corresponding to the region is called the Neotropical kingdom. Among the conspicuous plants are ornamental grasses, ancestors of garden flowers, agaves, the rubber tree, and a variety of trees.
