Why? Influence the development of character and encourage spiritual growth. Develop habits and attitudes of good citizenship. Encourage good sportsmanship and pride in growing strong in mind and body. Improve understanding within the family. Strengthen the ability to get along with other boys and respect other people. Foster a sense of personal achievement by developing new interests and skills. Show how to be helpful and do one’s best. Provide fun and exciting new things to do. Prepare a boy to be a Boy Scout.
Safety Youth Protection 2-deep leadership No one-on-one contact permitted Scope Physical Safety: NO Corporal punishment, real or threatened Hazing, Bullying, secret societies Indecency (both scout-scout and adult-scout) Training Online Training Required by BSA for all adults Face-to-Face training Required by the state of Texas Valid for 2 years Medical Forms Parts A&B required Please attach copy of shot records

“Finances” Scout expenses Uniform $60-100 A nnual BSA dues $12 Den Dues $1 / week covers the supplies the den leaders usually purchase Food at most campouts Typically 2 fundraisers per year Popcorn in the fall BBQ sandwiches in the spring the last couple years Fundraisers pay for Awards Scouts’ camping fees Summertime activities Boys’ Life Etc. Blue and Gold is a “big” expense but we make it a break-even event
