2. Introduction Nikshay pokshan yojana is a national programme that supports nutritional support for TB patients. The word Nikshay has two parts Ni- and - kshay which means elimination of Tuberculosis. This programme was introduced in 2018 by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

3. Statistics According to WHO Global TB Report (2023), India alone contributes to 27 percent share of the total number of Tuberculosis cases. 4. Objectives This programme was introduced in 2018 by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Much of the tuberculosis cases in India were attributed to and overcrowding poor nutritional status. Through this programme, the GOI provides monetary incentives to the TB patients so that they can afford good nutritious food that will help fend off the disease and to reduce the death rate by a large margin.

5. A financial incentive of Rs 500 per month is given during the course of the treatment. This scheme is Direct Benefit Transfer which means the amount is transferred to the patients Aadhar linked bank accounts. For pediatric Tb cases, the amount will be deposited in parents / guardian’s account. All the Tb patients who have been notified and registered under the portal are eligible for the scheme. 7. Response & Challenges The public responded positively to the programme that was confirmed by better follow up to the treatment and more case detections. A few downsides of the programme were: 2. 3. 1. Unavailability of Aadhar / Bank accounts Low incentive. Unaware of the programme itself.

8. Modifications A direct cash transfer to the patients would help in a better outreach of the programme. 2. Addition of nutritional supplements to the patients will directly aid in a proper nutritional support along with monetary incentives. 3. A better monetary incentive helps alleviate some of their problems.
