It is found mainly in tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world, mostly in urban and semi-urban areas . Dengue is considered as an important mosquito-borne arboviral disease . TREATMENT The treatment of dengue fever is symptomatic and supportive in nature. Bed rest and mild analgesic-antipyretic therapy are often helpful in relieving lethargy, malaise, and fever associated with the disease. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is recommended for treatment of pain and fever.
Nilavembu kudineer preparation All the above ingredients are grinded into coarse powder, called as ‘ kudineer choornam ’. ‘ Kudineer choornam ’ is then made into kudineer by adding water and heated, so that the mixture of kudineer choornam and water reduced to 1/4th or 1/8th of its volume. Dose of the kudineer is generally 30ml before food, three to four times a day. Lifetime of prepared kudineer is 1 Samam i.e. 3 hours

Vilamichu ver ( Plectranthus amboinicus )
Chukku ( Zingiber officinale )
Milagu ( Piper nigrum)
Koraikizhangu ( Cyperus rotundus )
Peipudal ( Tricosanthes cucumerina )

NILAVEMBU KUDINEER All these plants are used traditionally in the treatment of fever, inflammation, arthralgia , arthritis, gastric ulcer, jaundice and general debility conditions. Nilavembu kudineer controls fever through its healing effects of temperature regulation, inflammation control and body pain relief It boost the immunity
ANDROGRAPHOLIDE The medicinal value of this plant is due to the presence of a bitter active ingredient andrographolide . Andrographolide is a colourless crystalline solid with bitter taste It is a bicyclic diterpenoid lactone derivative, a main phytochemical compound. Other constituents are neoandrographolide , 14- deoxyandrographolide , and 14-deoxy-11, 12-didehydro andro-grapholide .
CONCLUSION Polyherbal preparations like nilavembu kudineer have excellent antiviral activity against dengue virus and are less toxic in contrast to the synthetic drugs, which are regarded as perilous to human being and environment.
