No Smoking Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "No Smoking" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one
hand, the importance of the subject matter is undeniable, as it addresses a critical public health
issue. On the other hand, the difficulty lies in presenting a comprehensive and compelling
argument that not only highlights the adverse effects of smoking but also emphasizes the
significance of promoting a smoke-free environment.
One challenge is gathering relevant and up-to-date information to support your arguments. You'll
need to delve into medical journals, statistical reports, and authoritative sources to build a strong
foundation for your essay. Additionally, the topic demands a careful balance between presenting
factual information and appealing to the emotions of the audience. Balancing these elements
requires skillful writing to maintain credibility and engage readers.
Structuring the essay poses another hurdle. It's crucial to organize the content logically, ensuring
a smooth flow of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. The introduction should grab the
reader's attention, the body should present a well-reasoned argument, and the conclusion should
leave a lasting impression. Transitioning seamlessly between these sections while maintaining
coherence can be a daunting task.
Furthermore, tackling the ethical aspects of the issue adds complexity. Addressing the rights of
individuals to make their own choices while highlighting the societal responsibility to protect
public health requires a nuanced approach. Striking the right tone is essential to avoid sounding
preachy or judgmental.
Despite the challenges, writing an essay on the topic of "No Smoking" offers an opportunity to
contribute to a meaningful dialogue. It allows for the exploration of various perspectives, the
development of critical thinking skills, and the articulation of well-founded opinions. The
difficulty lies not only in presenting a well-researched and coherent argument but also in
inspiring readers to reflect on their own habits and contribute to a healthier society.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of "No Smoking" requires thorough research, careful
structuring, and a balanced approach to address the complexities of the issue. It is an undertaking
that demands both intellectual rigor and persuasive writing skills. For those seeking assistance
with such essays or similar writing tasks, various resources are available, including online

Case Study Disney Essay
Case 11.1 (p. 337) Conflict at Walt Disney Company: A Distant Memory?|
1) How would you describe the conflict between Michael Eisner and the Weinstein
brothers, the two board members (Disney and Gold), and Steve Jobs? Was it
functional or dysfunctional?
Ivancevich (p. 311) defines functional conflict as a confrontation between groups that
enhances and benefits the organization s performance while he defines dysfunctional
conflict as any confrontation or interaction between groups that harms the
organization or hinders the achievement or organizational goals. Though, a point the
Ivancevich makes (p. 311) is that in most cases, the point at which functional
confrontation becomes dysfunctional is impossible to identify precisely. ... Show

The conflict of Eisner and Jobs at first was the perceived stage due to the negative
comments Eisner made at congressional hearings; Jobs took the comments personally
and so was very emotional about the words.
As the feud continued and escalated, Jobs took the perceived stage to the last stage
of conflict manifest. As the feud escalated, Jobs threatened to not renew the Disney
Pixar relationship after the release of Cars in 2006 if Eisner was still CEO of
Disney. Thus, Jobs acted upon the conflict with this threat which would have had dire
financial losses for Disney.
3) Which of the following best describes Michael Eisner s and Bob Iger s approaches
to resolving conflict: dominating, problem solving, avoiding, or accommodating?
Explain:
Certainly Eisner s approach to resolving conflict would fall into the dominating
category; dominating approach is the person/group s maximum focus on meeting its
own concerns, coupled with a minimal focus on meeting the concerns of other group
(Ivancevich, p. 319). It seems Eisner fought or had difficulty with all key persons
with the other companies he dealt with; apparently maintaining these key
relationships was not a high priority with Eisner. I think as Eisner still continued to
be successful in spited of these issues, he probably gained a sense of unlimited power
and authority; while he may have kept the

Principle Principles Of Gaap
Q. Elaborate the principles of GAAP with suitable numeric examples. Ans. The
eight principles of GAAP are discussed as follows: 1.Business Entity Concept:
According to this concept, business must be treated as a separate unit from the
owners; that is business and its owner are separate and different and both can t be
intermingled. The transactions and operations of business must be reported for
separately from those of owner s. Company s financial statements will not show
the personal expenses of owner. Examples If any of company s assets are used to pay
for owner s expenses, this will be considered and treated as goods/cash drawings that
will be payable by owner to the business. Likewise, owner s equity is demonstrated
as liability in company s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
8.Realization Principle: This principle states that revenue must be reported on
accrual basis of accounting; i.e. recognize revenue when it is earned regardless of
whether cash has been received or not. If a company is selling goods, it must
recognize sales in the accounting period when the benefits and risks associated
with ownership of goods are transferred to buyer. If it is credit sales, revenue will
be accounted for along with subsequent debtor, whereas in case when offering a
service, company will recognize revenue on basis of stage of completion of
services as per the contract. Example: Contractors XYZ accepted a contract in June
2012 for building a bridge for $12 million. The total estimated costs for the project
are $6 million; $3 million has been incurred up till 31st December 2012. $2 million
advance was received initially. Given no further payments were received, how much
revenue must be reported in income statement of December 2012? Ans: Degree of
completion of contract: 3 million/6 million 100

Social Movement Literature Review
Introduction:
Throughout history, social movement organizations (SMOs) or small groups,
loosely connected by a shared purpose have created transformational change.
Charles Tilly defines social movements as a series of contentious performances,
displays and campaigns, by which ordinary people make collective claims on others
(Tilly 2004:3). Examples of these movements are the Women s suffrage, civil rights
and the LGBTQ movement. Similar forces are transforming businesses, military
affairs and religion. SMOs have become an important part of society because these
movements provide a forum for grievances and demands to be heard. These
movements also provide citizens an institution outside of the traditional political
system.
The purpose of this paper is twofold: 1) to better understand the potential connection
between the old and new movements and 2) determine if a certain theory, strategy,
method or goal makes a social movement more or less successful compared to others
as it takes more than feelings of frustration to persuade an individual to sacrifice time,
money, relationships on these grievances. As will be indicated in the literature
review, there are several arguments concerning the success of social movements.
Literature review:
This literature review provides an overview of the major ideas represented in the
literature of social movement theory. McAdam, McCarthy and Zald (1996) offer a
framework intended to explain social movements emergence, development and

Nathaniel Hawthorn Characteristics
Nathaniel Hawthorn
Author Nathaniel Hawthorn, who is considered one of the Great American authors,
wrote during the Romanticism period. Particularly, in his work titles The Scarlet
Letter written in 1850 we can see evidence of the characteristics, themes and style
identified with the Romantic Movement which was extant in American letters
between 1800 and 1850. As a representative of such a movement, Nathanial then
remains one of the most identifiable and iconic writers of his time.
Nathaniel Hawthorn was born on July 4, 1804, in Salem, Massachusetts. His father
died in 1808, and after that, Nathanial and his family moved with maternal relatives
in Salem which changed his life. He was sent to Bowdoin College in 1821, mainly
because of family on the area and low tuition rate. In 1836, he was an ... Show more

He was offered to be a weigher and gauger in Boston, and he accepted it on January
17, 1839. He would give short stories to publish like Young Goodman Brown and
The Minister s Black Veil , to a good number of magazines, though none drew major
attention to the author. After that, in 183, e won the wager, but didn t end as a
bachelor for life. He left months later and married Sophia Peabody on July 9, 1842
in Boston. Years later they decided to have children, and they had three. Their
names were Una, Julian, and Rose. In April 1846, hawthorn was an official
Surveyor for the District of Salem and Beverly and Inspector of the Revenue for
the Port of Salem and earned $1,200 yearly. He had trouble writing during this
time. He then lost his job due to changes after the presidential election of 1848.
Years later, he was really affected by the death of his mother and called it the darkest

their existence on trying to provide a fair chance to people with any type of

with a severe case of cerebral palsy, or even be born a hemophiliac, there are places
designated to care for such babies like this. I think the woman should have her

First off, I am pro choice for abortions performed by mothers that were impregnated
against their will. Secondly, I am not against having an abortion done to save the
mother s life. My third and fourth points are somewhat related: third I am against
using abortion as a sole form of birth control; and fourth I am not against the use of
morning after pills to help prevent a pregnancy from taking place. And my fifth and
final point made in this paper, is that I am against having an abortion to avoid
giving birth to some sort of a deformed baby. When taking all of my points into
consideration, one can easily see that I belong to the aforementioned group of people
who are in the gray when it comes to abortion. In some cases I

The Angelman Syndrome
ANGELMAN SYNDROME 3 Angelman syndrome Angelman syndrome was first
identified by Harry Angelman in 1965. It is a genetic disorder and Angelman noted
the disease as a unique syndrome by the presence of several children in his practice
as having flat heads, jerky movements, protruding tongues, and bouts of laughter
(StаёЈаё–ppler 2012: 1). Symptoms usually become notable from ages 6 to 12
months and about 1 in 12,000 to 20,000 people are affected. Although children with
Angelman syndrome are prone to epileptic seizures from age two onward, their life
expectancy is otherwise normal. Identifiers of Angelman syndrome include cognitive
and developmental delays and problems with coordination of speech and movement
(StаёЈаё–ppler 2012:1). Children with Angelman syndrome are also often described
as hyperactive. Children appear normal at birth but often begin to have feeding
problems and do not meet expected developmental milestones. The characteristics
typical of Angelman syndrome derive from the loss of function of a gene called
UBE3A which is derived from the mother (Stаё Јаё–ppler 2012). People normally
inherit one copy of the UBE3A gene from each parent and both are activated in
most of the body (Angelman syndrome, 2011, Genetics Home Reference). However,
in certain areas of the brain...only the copy inherited from a person s mother (the
maternal copy) is active...If the maternal copy of the UBE3A gene is lost because of
a chromosomal change or a gene mutation, a person will

Clive Bell And The Formalist Theory Essay
Clive Bell and the Formalist Theory
Art is a recurring form of human practice. Some have argued that all human societies
have shown evidence of artistic activities. (Carroll 5)
Man has long created art, this much is certain. However, man has never ultimately
defined art. There are so many things which qualify as art and as many qualities to
each piece that trying to find answers only seems result in more questions. The
formalist theory of art, as present by Clive Bell, makes an attempt at defining art and
answering many of these questions. Below is a discussion of the formalist theory; its
definition, its strengths, and its weaknesses as evidenced by the work of Clive Bell.
Clive Bell theorizes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is based on the Common Denominator Argument, which is put forth by Noel
Carroll. This is one of the same arguments that Bell puts forward, Carroll simply
elucidates the matter.
...the Common Denominator Argument . This argument begins with the
unexceptionable presupposition that if anything is to count as a necessary condition
of art status, then it must be a property had by every artwork. (Carroll 111).
Carroll believes that some things are art, some things are not art, and their must be a
factor common to all art which differentiates it from not art because the two things
are clearly distinct.
Formalism is in some ways an advantageous theory of art. It has advantages over
both representationalism and expressionism. Representationalism is the theory of
art that in order for something to qualify as art, it must be representative of its
content. Thus, a drawing of a tree is representative of a tree because it obviously
resembles a tree. The matter goes beyond that though; works of art may even be
representative via metaphor, common qualities with subject, or fiat. If a work of art
is classified as art via metaphor, its content is a metaphor for the actual object. Thus,
in Peter and the Wolf each of the instruments is a metaphor for the subjects they
represent. An oboe is not a duck, but both can make a quacking

A Report On Web Design
Web Design
Greg Crotty
Report 1
In the following report I will give details on a few applications that you would use
when you are creating your website. I will explain what are the advantages and the
disadvantages of each are and I will give comparisons. There will also be some useful
user recommendations.
Ok let s get started, first of all you need an application for creating a webpage and
one that is widely used and one that I have chosen is Dreamweaver. It is a basic
enough program but there are more advanced programmes out there. Being able to
upload websites within seconds is very popular with users. The code screen is also
quite easy on the eye for people used to creating websites that is, it could be a little
daunting for newbies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Document sharing is also a useful tool, when you convert a Word document for
example word 2016 into a Web page that authored content can be easily shared with
others who may not have Word installed or who are using a limited network
connection that cannot support opening or downloading a Word 2016 document in a
Web browser. There is not many disadvantages that I can speak of. The one main
disadvantage might be that there could be functionality issues when looking at your
ms word file on a webpage and one minor issue with ms word documents is that only
one user can edit at any one time.
When coming up with ideas for a nice layout of your webpage then desktop
publisher is probable a good place to start. It offers smart attractive ideas on how a
document is going to turn out when adding pictures and text to you webpage.
Newspapers and printing companies often use Microsoft publisher to print their
projects. As this is the case this software would only be used on a part time basis
for web design. The main disadvantage of desktop publisher would be the setup
expense from the computer down to the laser printer and software and the high end
publisher software s are not cheap. Also the users need a good knowledge of the
software especially for job positions that use desktop publisher on a daily basis.
Another program which would be similar to Microsoft word is the notepad
application.

The Exodus Of The Old Testament
Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and
sense of community to a group of people who had nothing. According to the
Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet
named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These people where
on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and
create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but
the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Mosesintentions for Exodus were to set
laws for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as
slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that
pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be
equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an
Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for
nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are slaves
then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential
slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of
any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new
community that will release their male slaves. During this era men were dominant
while women are treated as property and evidence can be found in Exodus of this
inequality. If his master have given

things, then how do they keep finding work? There are two reasons, they get
results, and the fact that image means more now than it has ever had before. Victor
Kamber, the President of the Kamber Group, a public relations firm in Washington

The tactics that the campaign consultants use are often drawn into question, including
in Swing Vote, when the incumbent President Boone s consultant, Marty, tells him
to offer Bud a job as a lobbyist in Washington in order to win his vote, citing that the
everyday man likes him, and that it would soften the image of lobbyists. President
Boone questions Marty after hearing this idea, to which he replies, We re doing what
we always do, dancing the dance, courting the voters. Boone asks his Marty what

Where Is It Written By Adam Schwartz Essay
Where Is It Written , by Adam Schwartz, is a story about Sam who s thirteen that
lives with his mother Sandra. First Sam visits his father for two weeks in late
August. Then he wrote his mother Sandra a letter regarding his decision on staying
with his father. Finally, his mother Sandra received his letter and called his father
house to speak to Sam about him wanting to live with his father and to reject him to
live with his father. Coming of ageis an important theme in which they take up for
their actions. Sam came of age because he realize his motherSandra isn t who he
thought she was. To begin, this story takes place in New Jersey. The author
introduces Sam who is dealing with his mother Sandra. His solution to this problem
is to persuade his father to sue. The author explains that he wanted to move with his
father. The author also introduces us to Phyllis who is Sam s father wife, which is
now sam s stepmother. The author mostly focuses on Sam and his mother Sandra the
relationship between the two. Such as the shouting, smoking, bringing in different
boyfriends every week. Also about the letter that Sam wrote his mother regards of his
decision. Everything! The cooking, the cleaning, the shouting . Everything! [Schwartz
pg. 87]. This quote refers back to the article about his mother Sandra. The most
important detail provided by the author in the beginning of the story are important
because they demonstrate that Sam persuades his father to sue his mother so

The Affordable Care Act ( Aca )
Absract++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) (also known as Obamacare ) is an historic piece of
legislation that has had massive effect on healthcare in the United States. Its systemic
effects on healthcare in this country are numberous, from insurance to ambulatory
care, from healthcare related taxes to healthcare resources, and beyond. That said, the
following research paper attempts to summarize how this massive piece of legislation
has effected healthcare in the United States, to date; with a particular eye towards the
effects on the average healthcare consumer. Lastly, it concludes with reasons to
praise the Affordable Care Act. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
Introduction++++++++++++++++++++++++++=
The ACA is a relatively new healthcare reform in the United States. Obamacare
(which is perhaps the more popular name) actually has a long and complex history.
In fact, this complexity is refectled in its very structure, as the ACA is really the
composite of a number of other pieces of legislation such as the Patient Protection
Act (PPA), sections of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (HCERA),
the Affordable Health Care for America Act (AHCAA), and also, the Student Aid
and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA). Generally speaking, all of these pieces of
legislation had, as their target objective, the goal of reforming healthcare in the
United States, so that more Americans had greater access to more affordable, better
quality

Review of Current Trend in Sustainable Manufacturing
A Review of Current Trend in Sustainable Manufacturing
1.ABSTRACT
Sustainable manufacturing revolves around the cooperation and efforts of
manufacturers, and the customers support towards this process. The manufacturing
industry is in support for sustainable manufacturing, but there are some factors that
still need to be ironed out so that manufacturing can go full swing into sustainable
manufacturing. Sustainable manufacturing goal can be achieved through sourcing
for materials locally, using natural resources for production instead of too much
chemical, energy and resource conservation, recycling where whatever waste that the
industry produces should and can be recycled and education about environment
conservation through sustainable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manufacturers are more worried about their survival and the capability to
maintain sustainable design in their manufacturing process [7]. Manufacturers can try
to manufacture products using designs that use less energy and fewer natural
resources for better sustainability. As the first step, the manufacturers will have to
invest in research and development of the most effective way in order to attain these
criteria, and this involves cost. Lack of technical support among employees in
achieving sustainable manufacturing is another issue that manufacturers need to look
into and resolve [3].
4.2Knowledge on sustainability
The manufacturers fail to understand what sustainable manufacturing is all about.
The manufacturers do not realize that lack of knowledge on sustainable
manufacturing is a loss to them. At present, there are still not much accessible
resources for the manufacturers to refer to broaden their mind on issues concerning
sustainable manufacturing. Currently, since not many are practicing sustainable
practices, until it becomes something in common the manufacturer will still find it as
a difficult process to be followed. Furthermore, some manufacturers are still lacking
in awareness regarding the current market trend which demands the manufacturing
industry to focus on sustainable manufacturing instead of the traditional

The Changing Tragedy of Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, and Desire under the Elms
Tragedy can easily be considered the greatest of all genres due to the fact that it
has withstood the test of time. Formally, tragedy employs something more complex
than other genres. It is not part of a life full of happy endings. It is part of a bigger
system of things. It is part of who we are. Perhaps tragedy is simply the art that truly
imitates life. gt; Historically speaking, the great rises of tragedy have occurred during
times of exceptional affluence. The Greeks, the Renaissance, and the early twentieth
century are periods that enjoyed this type of security. Extreme cultural and
technological advances marked each of these periods. The ... Show more content on

On a basic level, the characters are of a higher status in society. Even though the
characters in Desire under the Elms are farmers, based on the jealous reactions of the
other townspeople at the party and the sheriffs envious, open admiration of the farm,
they are of a higher rank in that particular social structure. The audience, not only
expects a resolution to the problem at hand, they also expect the characters to meet
some sort of tragic end. This is certainly the case in the three plays studied thus far.
The Oedipal Complex is best defined by Iokaste in Oedipus Rex when she exclaims,
how many men, in dreams, have lain with their mothers! Freud s theory examines the
desire of all sons to kill their fathers so that they can have the mother to themselves.
The basic premise is shown in all three plays in varying degrees. In the Oedipus
Complex s namesake, Oedipus actually murders his father and marries his mother. In
Hamlet, the lack of stage directions enables the director to take liberties with the
scene in Gertrude s bedroom. Desire under the Elms possibly has the most bizarre
construct of the Oedipus Complex through, not only the mother/lover relationship of
Eban and Abbie, but through the father/daughter relationship of Cabot and Abbie. As
suggested in class, this dynamic being shown over and over throughout

The Effects Of Human Population On The Environment
Every year the human population on Earth increases by approximately 1.12%, or 80
million, according to the United States Census Bureau. This drastic increase in
population has created a big strain on the environments around us. As the population
increases, so does the amount of fossil fuel consumption, greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere, deforestation, and other detrimental impacts on the environment. This,
in turn, causes the extinctionof at least 10,000 species per million per year and
pushes countless others to the brink ( How Many Species Are We Losing? ). It is
important to maintain Earth s biodiversity, the variety and abundance of organisms
and their habitats, to keep humans healthy and happy. The ecosystem is very
delicate, and the more species disappear, the more the entire ecosystems become
vulnerable and would eventually fall apart as the links in the food chains become
broken ( Endangered Animals of the World ). The ecosystems around the world,
however, provide humans with a wide range of food, medicine, and other industrial
products. For example, honey bees are responsible for 80% of pollination
worldwide. That means that if honey bees were to go extinct, there would be a
drastic decrease in agriculture yield and the amount of food available for
consumption, resulting in a massive food shortage worldwide. It would also result in
a sharp decline in the diversity of plant species which would have other implications.
To stop the further extinction of other

Primacy Effect on Attractiveness
Primacy Effect on Attractiveness Throughout your adolescence people had a
distinct idea of who you were and where you fit into the chaos that was your high
school career. Many, if not all, high schools have cliques that you happen to fall
into. In the typical portrayal of high school, there are the Jocks and the
Cheerleaders , who may not be the brightest of the bunch. The Nerds , who
although you would never date, you wouldn t mind if they tutored you for an
upcoming test. Then, there are a selected group of individuals that seemed to have
gotten the brains and the beauty. Again typically speaking, you found this elite
group taking up ranks in student government or perhaps you came across them in
the Most Likely to Succeed section of the yearbook. Without haste you could
easily know that these people were going places. Although we may disagree that
we don t judge a book by its cover, there has been irrefutable evidence that, as
humans, we do just that. We critique everyone we come into contact with, whether
it is consciously or subconsciously, and form impressions about people based off of
a miniscule amount of time. This cognitive process cannot be overlooked and causes
us to stereotype people as discussed by Ambady and Skowronski (2008). This is also
known as the primacy effect: information that is first presented should have a
stronger impact on an individual s impressions then subsequent information (Lee).
With the primacy effect this can lead people to

History of Social Work
The development of Social Work in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia
has developed and evolved, influencing people and professionals across the world.
Social Work has advanced through welfare policies and programs with significant
historical changes occurring and a shift in religious and political views allowing these
changes to benefit members of society and address social issues. Key events such as
the Elizabethan Poor Law, the industrial revolution, the first charity organised society
(COS) and the settlement movement were established mainly in the United Kingdom
however similar models were then adapted in the United States and Australia.

By the end of 1860, it was becoming apparent that outdoor relief was draining
community resources as poverty increased throughout the United Kingdom and
other forms of support were needing to be created as people were becoming aware
that it was not just a case of the poor seeking relief because of their character, but
more so of the conditions they were living in (Dulmus amp; Sowers, 2012).
The settlement movement became another key feature in establishing Social Work in
a bid for society to focus on the causes of poverty rather than the individual. This
required the volunteer or social worker to live in the houses with the residents,
Neighbourhood based houses were established in a bid to bring people together
from different socio economic and cultural backgrounds to share knowledge, skills
and values (Chenoweth amp; McAuliffe, 2012, p. 35). In 1869, Octavia Hill focused
establishing support housing in London for the poor and organising groups and
activities. Octavia strongly believed that we were to help the poor help themselves
by empowering people with rights to encourage responsibility (Smith, 2008).
Settlement houses soon established the first by Samuel and Henrietta Barnett in 1884
in London, named Toynbee Hall. The United States were quick to follow in this new
development as Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Star established America s, Hull House
in 1889. By 1890, settlements were known as an important method in researching and

Francis Ford Coppola directed the gangster crime drama film, The Godfather (1972),
inspired by the novel of the same name, written by Author Mario Puzo. The film
plays out in the beginning how Don Corleone declined to join the narcotics business
with notorious drug lord Sollozzo. With this in mind, one of the greatest gangster
films created by a man who decided to lead, and not follows. Moreover, explaining

Michael, the younger brother slated to become a congressman or maybe president,

falls into the wild card category portraying him, as innocently trying to fit in, as later
he developed into the character of The New Godfather.
Absolute power is the goal for the Corleone family, the demeanor and confidence of
Don, Michael and Sonny demanded respect of all who approached them for favors.

Shank3
Animals:
For this project, the Shank3 deficient rats used were generated in Dr Joseph
Buxbaum s lab using zinc finger nucleases (ZFN) in the outbred Sprague Dawley
background. The design, cloning, and validation of the ZFN, as well as the
embryonic microinjection and screening for positive founder rats were performed by
SAGE Labs (Boyertown, PA USA). Briefly, sixteen pairs of ZFN were designed
targeting exons 4, 5 and 6 of the Shank3 gene to disrupt the Shank3 ANK domain.
These pairs were assembled by PCR and sub cloned into the pZFN expression
plasmid. ZFN were then transfected into the rat C6 cell line and tested for disruption
activity using the Surveyor endonuclease (CEL 1) assay [53].

The rats were trained on a novel behavioral task designed in the ABET system from
Lafayette Instrument Company; Lafayette, IN USA. Training occurred in similar
manner as described for 5CSRT, where the rat was presented a white square
stimulus in the center of the screen to invoke the touching behavior on Bussey
Saksida capacitive touchscreen through the insert window. The rats touched the
location on this 765x1024 pixel capacitive touchscreen and received a sucrose
spurt as a reward delivered through a solenoid valve (Clippard Instrument
Laboratory, Inc.). The second stage of training was to get the rats to initiate the trial
by breaking the tray beam, thus controlling the trial initiation. For every initiated
trial, the rat was presented a white square of 275x275pixel to make the approach as
stereotaxic as possible. The final stage of the training involved breaking of the IR
beam passing through the insert s window, to initiate the pattern reversal of the
presented stimulus on the screen. The initial time between pattern reversal and the
capacitive touch was 2sec, which was further reduced to 1sec for criterion testing.
The criterion for the task was set to ~80% of In time capacitive touches with less

The Nutcracker Movie Analysis
Clara and the Prince
As I walked into The Center for Arts Theatre there was still plenty of seating but
there was a lot of excitement and noise coming from the audience members who had
already found their seats to watch The Nutcracker that was directed by Ashley Miller
Davis based on E.T.A. Hoffman s, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King (1816). The
production was choreographed very well by DeAnn Petruschke and Ashley Miller
Davis. The costume crew Lisa Ivy and Brenda Linton also did a great job with each
of the actor and actresses costumes. I have never seen the original Nutcracker
before so I did not really have anything to compare this production to. This story is
based on Clara played by Tess Barborek and her toy soldier, the prince, played by
Emry Hunnicut, and their journey through the Kingdom of Sweets. The lights
dimmed and then the theatre went black and music started playing. We set in the dark
for a couple of minutes until the curtain opened and Act I Scene I begins.
When the curtain opens the scene is set with a very large Christmas tree and Dr.
Stahlbaum and his wife are getting ready for their Christmas party. Clara, wearing a
light pink dress and her brother Fritz, wearing 1800 s style clothing, enter the room
and cannot wait for the party to begin or to open presents. The guest arrives with their
children and enjoy games and dancing until one of the guest Mr. Drosselmeyer starts
handing out presents to the children. Clara get a nutcracker and her brother

Historical Accuracy Of Henry Iv Plays By Shakespeare
Name Instructor Course Date Historical Accuracy in Henry IV Plays by
Shakespeare Research shows that Shakespeare s historical plays do not offer good
sources for accurate rendering of historical events. The details of place of issues
such as place, time, and personality are all subject to a great deal of artistic license
just as most of modern Hollywood movies about the past. However, to some
extent, Shakespeare did research his materials. Close analysis of his famous works
and plays indicate that Henry IV draws upon a surprising range of disparate
sources[CITATION Jam991 p 4 l 1033 ]. One of the most obvious sources for
Henry IV plays is Chronicles of England, Scotland, and Ireland by Raphael
Holinshed, the 1587 edition. Holinshed style of history focuses on personalities
and motivations of important historical figures as well as much detail regarding
Henry s IV tussle with Percy. Another important source used by Shakespeare in
historical plays was The Civil Wars between the Two Houses of Lancaster and
York by Samuel Daniel. The poems written by Daniel differ greatly from that of
Holinshed particularly on the emphasis on the Princes of Wales and the rivalry he
had with Hotspur. Shakespeare followed and used Daniel in portraying Hotspur as
a much younger person at the period of rebellion though history shows that he was
older than King Henry IV was. Both Daniel and Shakespeare use the battle of
Shrewsbury as an occasion for the prince to prove his valor as well martial

The Positive Effects Of Retainment
There have been many studies performed in recent years over the effects of
retainment. The reasoning behind why a student is being retained can be a big
deciding factor on whether it will end with success or not. When a child is behind
their peers because of age or numerous absences, retainment is an option for them. At
an older level, kids have a higher rate of success than those who have been retained
(Davis School District, 2011). When repeating a grade, they can have success the next
year, and can gain more confidence. However, retainment works best for students
when at a young, lower elementary age. Research has shown that retaining a student
can often point them in a negative direction. Students can experience bad impacts in
all areas

Each and every student plays a vital part of the classroom as a whole. The
classroom acts as a community of learners who respect and care for one another.
We are all different, but yet all alike, and that is what makes us very special. As a
future teacher I strive to foster a class that will become a family whom trusts and
maintains relationships with each and every other person. All will feel acknowledged
and heard. This leads to a safe and warm environment that will develop into a fun

The Old Man And The Sea Compare And Contrast Essay
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being
superior to your former self Ernest Hemingway. The Old Man and the Sea By:
Ernest Hemingway and Between the World and Me By: Ta Nehisi Coates are very
similar in many different ways. The comparison of each book is shown well in the
setting, theme, and in Symbolism. In the setting, both books provide that the main
characteris a little fish in a big sea . What that means is that the setting is very large.
The character is only a small part of the area but is trying to make a difference. In
Hemingway s Novella, he says that the setting takes place in Havana, Cuba. This
place is where the main character, Santiago lives. What could be said as the real...

It has more force in the evening too. But in the morning it is painful. The weakness
of Santiago really defines how he takes on fighting the marlin. One other thing that
shows his suffering is the loss of the marlin to the sharks when Santiago was on his
way back to Havana after catching the marlin. Coates way of showing suffering is
in how everybody around him would have the ruthless, hatred of African
Americans. How all these people would do anything to annihilate them at all costs.
Coates really shows how he feels all of the whites treat him. One thing that coates
shows is how Prince Jones was shot and killed to death. This really affected Coates
and really changed his as a person and as a man after Jones death. Both the books
show how suffering can really change a character for the better or for the worse.
Symbolism is shown for each novel in The Marlin in The Old Man and the Sea and
Race in Between the World and Me. The symbols are something that someone
reallys want to get. They have working for something of this value for their whole
lives. The Marlin is this magnificent creature that every fisherman only dreams of
catching. Once Santiago finally catches this fish, he almost thinks of the fish as a
brother. He was with the fish 2 straight days, in that time, all he was doing is trying
to reel in this beast of a fish. He felt like this fish was one of the closest things that
he has ever had to him before. In Between the World and Me, a

How Did Prohibition Cause Organized Crime
Jello Biafra once said, For every prohibition you create, you also create an
underground. When the united states United States created the prohibition of alcohol
it started out to be a good thing but then and underground was created with secret
bars, saloons and underground distilleries. Prohibitions failure is mainly due to the
dramatic increase in organized crime. In addition, the tragic decrease in alcohol
quality as well as alcohol associated deaths and illnesses. One of the biggest reasons
why prohibition failed, is because prohibition created tons of organized crime.
Prohibition did not end drinking in America; it merely intensified drinking by driving
it underground. the speakeasy replaced the saloon, and the nightclub replaced... Show

So most of the times there would be ingredients that should be in the alcohol. Now
that alcohol was no longer subject to health inspection, various ingredients were
used to make homemade liquor and brew, many of which were harmful or even
fatal, nevertheless, the illeg0al alcohol market was generating millions of dollars
per year (Coffey). Many citizens that depended on alcohol to survive, would do
anything and everything in their power to get their hands on it. And they do not
care what they are ingesting, they just want that free feeling that alcohol gives
them. Above all, many Americans with a taste of liquor were determined to get
hold of a drink one way or another (Sandbrook). Often times it would kill the
person, but they did not care what it did to their body. It was also very expensive
to buy from bootleggers, or on the black market. Almost immediately after
Prohibition began, Hardware stores began selling portable stills. Distilleries in
Canada and Mexico flourished as Rum Runners smuggled liquor across the
borders to sell on the black market (Coffey). Like any law there is always going to
be a black market, underground source that is making money hand over fist. In fact
in this case distilleries in Canada and Mexico made some profit . Alcohol that you
buy could be laced with a deadly chemical, but that is the risk you take to have just
that one drink, that one drink could be your last

Taste of Cherry 1997 Film
Using the Rosenbaum Ford debate I will be analyzing how Abbas Kiarostami s
1997 film Taste of Cherry s epilogue and final scene comment on post revolutionary
Iran using the open image as well as how each has argued on what the scenes have
achieved in relation to the rest of the film.
The film has been mostly well received by international critics winning a Palme d OR
at Cannes but not so much in Iran as many felt it had problematic images of the
society of the time. It follows the protagonist Mr. Badii as he rides through the
outskirts of Tehran looking for someone to help him complete a task. As the film is
shot in Iran it will carry signs of post revolutionary Iranian culture already opening up
our curiosity to the cultural discourse that surrounds the film. What Kiarostami does
is portray an Iranian image and by including the epilogue raises questions of how to
transcend it.
In his writing Rosenbaum s argument that the end sequence acts as a relief from the
solitude of Mr. Baadhi s consciousness and journey that we have followed is based on
the motif of solitude that Kiarostami established throughout the film. He sees it as an
uplifting ending, one that gives the film a hopefulness that had up to then not been
present, stating that it is the opposite to the distancing effect felt beforehand that
Kiarostami had created.
Hamish Ford on the other hand has a different view, seeing the epilogue as a kind of
cop out on Kiarostami s part. Kiarostami creates a visual and

In order to advance the vital interests of the United States, we need a military that is
equipped with best of everything and the backing of a nation to use them to defend
our national interests and goals when needed.
2. The National Defense Strategy (NDS) counterbalances the Defense Departments
tendency to focus on winning conventional conflicts rather than irregular wars by
empowering those small nations to improve the security of their countries to prevent
conflicts from happening. The NDS focuses on the different irregular warfare tactics
that can be used by our enemies in the strategic environment. It gives us guidance on
what we need to do to prevent the use of these irregular warfare tactics. It was not
until the last decade that the U.S. military started fighting the irregular wars; our
Special Forces units were the ones that were fighting the unconventional wars. The
U.S. military has had a difficult time changing its focus on fighting conventional wars
to fighting irregular wars. During the Vietnam War, the U.S. military became very
experienced in guerrilla warfare tactics. However, when that war ended the focus
shifted back to fighting the conventional wars and that experience was lost. Now,
because of the lack of experience, the U.S. military is having a difficult time fighting
the unconventional wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The 2008 NDS attempts to

The Definition Of A Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
The book Fearless by Eric Blehm is about a person that truly becomes a hero.
Through all of his trials and tribulations, he still pulls through to become a hero. He
was the definition of fearless. As it says on page 264, he was a tender warrior. His
story has inspired many. Do not let this be fooling, he had a very rough patch in his
life before he became what his is known for. Kelley, his wife, was his saving grace
and a big part in his success. Adam Brown was the hero that everyone strives to be,
but he was not the only one. Kelley was also a hero in more ways than one would
see. Adam Brown is the definition of what a true hero is, even though he went
through a rough patch. He still pulled through to become the man he is known for
today. He remained compassionate, kind, brave, and kept close in his faith in
God. He was always compassionate to others. As shows on page 243, when instead
of getting things for Christmas himself, he asks for shoes for the children in
Afghan that have no shoes to keep their feet warm. Another example is on page
252, where he always had respect and compassion for others, no matter their social
ranking. He was very kind to others, especially when it came to his family. On page
261, he sends his family a message, telling them how much he misses them and how
he hopes they have a good day. Also, on page 237, when an intruder came into the
house, Adam scared them off and just like that he was Kelley s cuddly Adam again

Reflective Reflection In English
Throughout this course, I have grown as a writer and learned many things I was
previously unaware of. What I pictured English 101 to entail is nothing compared
to what I experienced. Going into this class, I was thinking in the most negative
tone: There is no way I am going to be able to write four full pages, There is not
enough time to write papers, The work load is overwhelming, There is only four
summarize grades. However, these thoughts quickly became reversed as the year
progressed as I was pushed to limits I did not even know I had. As I began writing, I
became more aware of my strengths and weakness, enjoyments and frustrations, and
future plans and goals. After exploring all papers, there are strengths and weaknesses
prevalent throughout. It is important to know these qualities and capacities in order
to leverage certain strengths and improve specific weaknesses. Using this knowledge,
I came up with one overall weaknesses throughout my writing that show up in
multiple instances. One of them would be subject verbagreement. Subjects and verbs
must agree with one another in number (singular or plural). Thus, if a subject is
singular, its verb must also be singular; if a subject is plural, its verb must also be
plural. In the present tense, nouns and verbs form plurals in opposite ways: nouns
add an s to the singular form; verbs remove the s from the singular form. For

Edwin Arlington Robinson s Poem, Richard Cory
Edwin Arlington Robinson emotionally impacts his readers by reminding us that
things are not always as they seem. In his sham of an envious poem Richard Cory,
Robinson creates a man, who seems to obtain happiness and everything anyone
could desire. He explicitly states in every stanza how all the people held him in high
standards and regarded him as royalty. However, Robinson creates a twist in his
poem. One dark day, the man who had everything in life, put a bullet through his
head, and ended his misery, that he was drowning in, all alone. Robinson does an
outstanding job in connecting to one s desirable emotions through his diction, point
of view, and tone.

Starting off the poem, Robinson demonstrates to us that he as well, regards this man,
as put together and having everything going for them. With the use of his literary
devices, he accomplished to get the readers set on the fact that there could not
possibly be anything wrong with Cory. However, it all changes when Robinson
changes his tone. With the shift of his tone, followed the shift of his perspective. This
situation impacts the reader gradually because it staggers us. We have gotten so
accustomed to judging people and assuming something, without even knowing
anything about them. In fine, we thought that he was everything, to make us wish
that we were in his place, So on we worked, and waited for the light, and went
without the meat, and cursed the bread; and Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head(lines 11 16). The importance in these
lines, is that the perspective that the author gives, goes from viewing him as a king,
to someone very lonely.
The attitude that the poet uses to approach his poem plays a significant role on how
the reader interprets the poem. Robinson uses an admiring, even envious tone
towards Richard Cory. This tone can be seen in lines 1 through 14. However, the tone
shifts, in line 15, to a more dispassionate tone. The reason behind the shift that
Robison purposely incorporated,

Cyber Attack And Cyber Attacks Essay
Most nations today fear terror attacks that include bombing use of reinforcements
like machines guns and other firearms. This is because terror attacks most of the
times leave many people dead and others disabled while others are left without
families. However, there is another attack today in many nations that can be
destructive like a terror attackand this is the cyber attack and threats. Cyber attacks
can be responsible for large mass destructions by making all systems connected to
cyber networks fail to work (Rhodes 20). An example is the Morris worm that
affected the world cyber infrastructures and caused them to slow down to a position
of being impractical. Therefore, as a result of these cyber attacks resources are being
established and designed to help counter the attacks.
Cyber threat simulation is one of the resources that have been deployed to help deal
with cyber attacks. A cyber threat simulation is an approach where a real life attack
is imitated and used to test how a firm using cyber infrastructures can respond to the
threat (Montana and UcedaVelez 579). A threat is created where there exist two
groups in one company the group bringing in the threat to the company and the group
responsible for finding a solution to fight the threat. Simulations help to measure the
speed of a real attack and how long it takes the company to respond to the threat.
Cyber security industry has decided to establish new ways to measure the speed of
threats rather than relying on

Taking a Look at Intrusion Detection
Intrusion Detection Intrusion detection is similar in concept to a burglar alarm on a
car. There is the lock system to prevent access to a car, similar to a firewall, and
there is the alarm system, the intrusion detection system. Intrusion Detection Systems
(IDS) are there to compliment the network or computers firewall, if or when there is
a breach, it is the IDS that is able to identify it and then alert the administrator.
Firewalls are an effective way for filtering information coming in to your network
from the internet and are a good source of protection, but there are ways to
circumvent a firewall which could leave you defenseless. An IDS monitors the
firewall for breaches and also monitors the traffic on the organizations network for
any anomalies. This is important in the instance of an external user connecting to an
organizations infrastructure by connecting through an installed modem on the
network, this form of attack cannot be caught by a firewall but an IDS is able to
recognize the abnormal activity and report the intrusion to an administrator. Intrusion
detection systems are there to help an information system prepare for and deal with
attacks. They collect information from a variety of system and network sources and
then analyze the information and activity logs searching for information on potential
security problems. Some of the main tasks of an IDS are to monitor and analyze the
user and system activity on a network, to audit the systems

Why Did The Farmer s Shape During The Summer Of 1914
The summer of 1914 had been hot; some called it a heatwave, others referred to the
weather as tropical. It was indeed a flaming June and there were those in Axholme
who declared it too hot to work. In such an isolated place, the assassination in
Sarajevo had little impact on the residents of the Isle, indeed, in the week that
Britain went to war there were many focusing on an expected good crop of
potatoes and revelling in a countryside that had never looked better. There were
few who dwelt on the extraordinary rapidity of world events as the war clouds over
Europe moved to shroud the whole of the British Isles. Only days before there had
been celebrations in Crowle when the cricket team thrashed Epworth, with Mr.
Brooks rattling up 77 not out from a total of 119. Epworth struggled to reach 60 but
did have the satisfaction of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, farmers in Owston Ferry were predicting their harvest would be the best
for over forty years. For those canny farmers, who could see far enough into the
future to realise that, if the long predicted war materialised and things worked in
their favour, many could be generously rewarded. So it proved, for the next three
years, many farmers would see their profits rise by a staggering 500%. The
standard of farming on the Isle was generally high but the national picture of
British farming was one of an industry in a poor state. In many places walls and
hedges were badly maintained, farm buildings were crumbling and the land was ill
managed and unproductive. The industry was just about capable of satisfying the
needs of the nation but nowhere near healthy enough to endure the rigours of
protracted hardship. For many an Isle resident the desire to continue with a normal
life remained strong. After all, wars were fought in far away places and had little
effect on life at
