Methodology Based on Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI)
Methodology Household deprivation score is obtained by adding deprivation score of each indicators People with deprivation score of 33.3% (1/3) or higher are identified as multidimensionally poor 20%(1/5) or higher are vulnerable to multidimensional poverty; 50%(1/2) or higher are in sever multidimensional poverty Poverty headcount (incidence of poverty) H = q/n, where q – the number of people who are multidimensionally poor n - total population Intensity of poverty A = where - the deprivation score of the i th multidimensional poor individual
Methodology Multidimensional poverty index MPI = H * A or ; weighted sum of the censored headcount rates of each indicator j (proportion of people who are multidimensionally poor and deprived in indicator j). Contribution of dimension d (health, education, standard of living) Contribution of indicator j
Key observations Multidimensional poverty decreased in 2020/21 at the national level and in rural areas but increased in urban areas compared to 2015/16. Intensity doesn’t change at national level and rural areas, but increased in urban areas Severity of MP decreased at national level and rural, but increased in urban areas Vulnerability to MP doesn’t change overall, slightly decreased and increase in urban and rural areas, respectively.
