DEFINITION Tics disorder are experience of spasm like movement of particular muscles . E.g.-face ,eyelids Twitches are the sudden jerking or convulsive movement of the body Tics and twitches are usually harmless and can be treated by changing our life style

TYPES OF TICS DISORDER The tics are mainly two types – Motor tics Vocal tics MOTOR TICS- These are sudden short lasting movements VOCAL TICS- These are altered sound[unwanted sound]

Types of motor tics Simple tics Complex tics 1-SIMPLE MOTOR TICS – It includes eye blinking ,neck jerking,head jerking and shoulder shagging etc. 2-COMPLEX MOTOR TICS – It consist of a performed in the same order . This tics disorder togetherly called as involuntary movement.

OTHER TYPES OF TICS DISORDER These disorder are mainly three types of tics disorder- Transient tics disorder- It mainly affect the youth . It affect 5-20% of school children . These are only 1to 2tics movement at same time . It can be last for one year.

TYPES 2-CHRONIC MOTOR /TICS DISORDER- It can lost for more than one year. It is characterized by presence of long lasting tics . In this either motor and vocal tics present togetherly the motor and vocal tics not occur . 3-TOURETTE’S SYNDROME – In this both motor and vocal tics can occur together. In this duration of attack is short and it increase the tics activity Symptoms get disappear as the patient get older .

DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION History collection includes- age ,duration, severity of motor /vocal tics Physical examination

MANAGEMENT Pharmacological therapy- Haloperidol-0.25-4mg/day Serotonin inhibitors -20-80mg /day Cloredine-0.05-0.30mg/day

OTHER MANAGEMENT Behavioural therapy Stress reductive measure like-yoga ,music,meditation

NURSING MANAGEMENT Asses the patient condition. Advice the patient to avoid day time sleep . Advice the patient to take milk and warm water. Advice the patient to take warm bath.
