What is Nutraceuticals ??? Combination of 2 words Nutrition + pharmaceuticals Means “Food or Food Products” + “Medical Benefits”
Intro It’s a group are more than a food & less than pharmaceuticals. According to FSSA Nutraceuticals are : - “ Foods which provide health benefits to reduce the risk of chronic diseases & basic nutrition .”
Cont.. Nutraceuticals may be used as dietary supplements or as a functional food. These are: natural foods antioxidants dietary supplements citrus fruits vitamins minerals herbals milk & cereals fortified dairy products
Cont.. Simply, “ Nutraceuticals ” are the substances which may be regarded as a food or food part which may provide health benefits or medical benefits ( which helps ) for prevention & used in treatment of disease. These products are generally consumed without a medical prescription & supervision.
IMPORTANCE Or SCOPE In the dietary supplement nutraceutical products one of the largest market which occupies the 64% in the market. In the pharmaceutical sector nutraceutical products mainly involved in vitamin & mineral section. In INDIA government also funding in vitamin enrichment initiatives for increasing food security concerns in INDIA. Increasing industry regulation worldwide, new product launches & an upswing in acquisition are promoting global nutraceutical market value & growth.
