What is Nutrition Month? Annual Campaign: Created to raise nutrition awareness among Filipinos. Legal Basis: Pursuant to Section 7 of Presidential Decree No. 491 of 1974 (Nutrition Act of the Philippines). Designated Month: July is declared as Nutrition Month. Lead Agency: Mandated the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to lead the campaign.

Overarching Theme (2025-2028): "Sa PPAN: Sama- sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat" What is the theme of the 51st Nutrition Month? 2025 Sub-theme and Focus: "Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain , Karapatan Natin!"

Reinforces the principle that access to adequate nutrition is a fundamental human right. 2025 Sub-theme and Focus: "Food at Nutrition Security, Maging Priority! Sapat na Pagkain , Karapatan Natin!" Stresses the urgent need for all Filipinos to have access to safe, sufficient, and nutritious food. Healthy diets should be viewed as a basic necessity and a human right, unconditionally accessible to all.

Aims to generate participation and commitments for PPAN from key partners and relevant stakeholders. Overarching Theme (2025-2028): "Sa PPAN: Sama- sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat" Highlights the need for collective action and commitment towards achieving a healthier and nutritionally secure country.

Objectives of the 51st Nutrition Month The Nutrition Month campaign aims to create greater awareness on nutrition among the public and stakeholders, particularly on food and nutrition security.

Generate participation and support from stakeholders at all levels on actions and initiatives in improving food and nutrition security for Filipino families, particularly vulnerable populations. For this year’s campaign, the following are the specific objectives: 1 Encourage multi-sectoral collaboration in improving availability, affordability, accessibility, and utilization of nutritious food. 2 Strengthen commitments in implementing the PPAN 2023-2028 as the framework for action to improve food and nutrition security. 3

2. Support local farmers and food producers by purchasing locally grown and indigenous produce. Key Messages of the 51st Nutrition Month Every Filipino has the right to access affordable, safe, sufficient, and nutritious food. 3. Establish food gardens to help households and communities supplement their food supply, promote self-sufficiency, and create opportunities for income through the sale of produce. Promote a healthy diet as early as the first 1,000 days of life, exclusively breastfeeding in the first six months followed by continued breastfeeding up to two years and beyond along with appropriate complementary feeding. 2. Implement climate-smart agricultural practices to ensure a resilient food system. Key Messages of the 51st Nutrition Month Issue and/or strengthen policies and programs that support food and nutrition security through investments in agriculture, local food production, and nutrition-sensitive interventions. 3. Stabilize food prices through improved food distribution systems and market accessibility as well as strengthened local supply chains to reduce transportation and middleman costs, which can drive up food prices. Key Messages of the 51st Nutrition Month 4. Use locally-sourced ingredients from local farmers or community gardens and encourage the use of fortified foods such as iron fortified rice in institutions (hospitals, schools, etc.) as well as in dietary supplementation programs or feeding programs. The Nutrition Month Logo Depiction: A food basket, useful for assessing food security at regional or country levels. Content: Consists of food items commonly accessed, availed, and consumed by a family for a certain period, providing information on dietary patterns.

The Nutrition Month Logo Cultural Relevance: Culturally appropriate, as Filipinos use a "bayong" or basket when buying food items at local markets. Food Groups: Portrays selected local food items from Go (rice), Grow (fish, egg, legumes), and Glow (horseradish tree or malunggay, pechay , banana, tomato, carrot) food groups.

The Nutrition Month Logo Representation: Corresponds to food images in the Pinggang Pinoy and represents principles of adequate and balanced nutrition.

Purpose: Identifies nutrition issues, sets goals, provides strategic areas with key nutrition-specific and sensitive interventions, and establishes roles of key partners. The PPAN 2023-2028 as the blueprint for nutrition improvement (NNC, 2023) Country's Strategic Document: The 11th strategic document for pursuing specific target outcomes, emphasizing different needs and nutrition problems across life stages. Blueprint: Intended for nutrition stakeholders and partners at national and local levels to build a strong foundation for improved nutrition outcomes.

Approach: Uses an outcome-based approach, focusing on achieving specific, measurable results. The PPAN 2023-2028 as the blueprint for nutrition improvement (NNC, 2023) Vision: "Reduction in all forms of malnutrition across all age groups by 2028," anchored on Ambisyon Natin 2024 and Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

Four Outcome Pillars: Healthier Diets: Interventions to make nutritious food more available, accessible, and affordable. 2. Better Nutrition Practices: Aims to influence behavior through education and communication (SBCC) for healthy practices. 3. Improved Access to Quality Services: Delivering comprehensive, well-coordinated, and inclusive services across all life stages. 4. Enabling Environment: Ensures good governance, reliable data and monitoring, adequate funding, and strong laws/policies.
