CLASS-
ROOM
POLICIES
1.Attendance.
Students are expected to attend all in-person class sessions and must complete all course requirements as assigned by the instructor. Each homework
assignment should be turned in at the beginning of the class on or before the due date.
2.Class Participation
Participation is done either in-person or online involvement in synchronous/asynchronous classes individually and in collaborative activities.
3.Informal Assessment.
The instructor notifies the class on the schedules of graded informal assessments. Informal assessments are rated with the use of analytical or holistic
rubrics. Graded recitations are rated under this grading criterion.
4.Final Paper /Major Course Requirement
One major academic paper or portfolio of learning is required as a course requirement. Information about this academic paper is given during the
orientation week or before the Middle Term examination. All papers will be evaluated based on “quality” not on “quantity”. In encoding the academic
paper, A4 bond paper, Arial Narrow font 12 (size) ,1.5 spacing, flush left paragraphing style should be used.
The final paper/ major requirement is also indicated in the course syllabus. You can ask from the Instructor a photocopy of this course syllabus after
signing the Certification section.
5.Academic Integrity /Intellectual Honesty.
Plagiarism is a serious offense. Plagiarism is the act of using the words or ideas of another as if they were one’s own serious form of academic dishonesty.
If another person’s complete sentence, syntax, key words, or the specific or unique ideas and information are used, one must give that person credit through
proper citation. In completing your research-based academic paper, you are advised to work independently unless your instructor indicates otherwise. It is
important for you to understand that you must reference the sources for all your direct quotes and for the rephrasing of information from authors and for
ideas you borrowed from your readings. Failure to cite references results in an act of plagiarism , intentional or unintentional. If it has been determined that
you plagiarized an academic paper, you may be penalized by receiving a zero on that paper.
6.Referencing. Writing guidelines will follow the American Psychological Association’s style format standards (see http://www.apastyle.org)
IMPORTANT NOTES FROM THE COURSE INSTRUCTOR:
1.Quizzes and Exercises. Their purpose is to ensure that you are participating in the course by preparing for class discussions and extended learning activities ,
completing the assigned readings, attending class regularly, and engaging with the course material and classroom activities.

2.Assignments. Their purpose is to evaluate some of the analytical and critical thinking skills being developed in class, as well as the comparative and critical
understanding of the topics discussed, as they relate to your own position. Throughout the term, a number of assignments will be given which may take the form
of reflective composition exercises, tests or [projects requiring you to apply the knowledge and skills you have developed in this course.
3. Class Time .Class Time will be primarily spent going over text exercises , and reviewing or expanding on key points from assigned readings or other
assigned learning materials. It is imperative that students keep up with the rigorous pace of the course by doing the assigned readings in a timely manner, and
by doing enough of the relevant practice exercises to get a feel for your level of understanding BEFORE coming to class. Class time is your opportunity to clear
up those things that you find difficult at your level. Frequently, we will break up into groups, work on exercises and then reconvene to compare answers and
discuss matters that arise.
4. Notes on Evaluation :
Team-Work Grades. This course employs a team-based approach to learning. Students will be assigned to learning teams, in which they will stay and work as
part of over the course of the term. However, a student’s final grade for work produced/library research topic presented in class for the big group discussion will
be individual. Individual points earned will be based on the pre-agreed rubrics.
