Introduction On- the- Job- Training (OJT ) is a professional learning platform that offers meaningful, practical work related to a students’ field of study. Interns work for a certain period of time to gain practical work related experience. It provide opportunities to speak directly to experts and people that have experience and knowledge of the job in a working environment.

Scope of the study On-the-job training is an important topic in the curriculum. It helps develop the practical knowledge of the individual. On the job training is a form of training provided at the workplace. During the training, students are familiarized with the working environment they may part of. Employees also get a hands-on experience using softwares, books of accounts etc.. Part of on-the-job training is to face the challenges that occur during the performance of the job.

Objective of study Demonstrate the role and importance of the tax consultant in economy. Give the student an opportunity to establish an interest in activities related to accounting. Provide a general work experience, so that the student can apply skills previously acquired at the College and acquire new relevant skills. Provide the feel of working within a firm.

Company profile GK & Associates is a tax consultancy firm which was founded by Mr . George Kutty and Mr. Aniyan John, the current members of the Board Of Directors of the company . Founded in 1990 The firm has around 5 branches in total which consists of branches in and outside India. The firm has more than 150 employees .

Period of study The period of internship was from 1 st April to 30 th April, 2019 which had 17 working days

Importance of study It helps in improving the level of performance and hence results in higher productivity. It boosts the morale of the students to perform the task/job efficiently in a future working environment. It provides a practical experience of the theoretical knowledge. It provides an opportunity to gain an insight into the work culture of a firm.

Limitations of study The time available for the OJT is less. There is no big exposure to the exact working of the firm. The time allotted for the OJT was one during which the accounting firms were busy with assessment work, hence there was a lack of focus on the trainee .

Swot Analysis STRENGTH Accuracy and Punctuality in the work place. Good infrastructure facility. Client Friendly Meeting deadlines Good employee-management relation

Swot Analysis WEAKNESS   The time allotted to the OJT is very less and it's insufficient to gain proper experience. Inefficient use of technology. Some employees lack awareness of the new tax laws. OPPORTUNITY As the new tax filing is fully via the internet portal they can aim for expansion of business . OJT provides the students an opportunity to gain experience of the work environment.

Swot Analysis THREATS Upcoming new accounting systems and procedure. More technologically advanced firms provide tough competition. Sudden amendments in tax laws .

Findings The focus of the firm is timeliness and accuracy of the work. The firm is conducting the work in an organized, ethical and professional manner. There is coordination between the departments in day to day works. More focus could be given to the trainee There exists a cordial and healthy working relationship in the organization.

Suggestions A longer time period should be given for On-the-job training. The firm can make small changes in their working which could save them a lot of time.

Conclusion An internship offers you the chance to learn by doing in a setting where you are supervised by a work-place professional and have the opportunity to achieve your own learning goals, without the responsibilities of being a permanent employee. It is a method to acquire new working experiences and expose to the real working environment. On the job training is an opportunity to fresh graduates as it serves as a work experience in their career.
