2. Introduction In Belize, online learning has been a very recent method of teaching and learning across all levels of education. Covid-19 pandemic forced educational institution in Belize to move from a face-to-face platform to online learning University of Belize adopted online learning as a new norm How effective is online learning on development and performance at the Univ ersity of Belize

3. Statement of the problem The University of Belize introduced Online Education with its main objective to help students access education during the pandemic and to get over traditional methods of learning. Online Education is a growing method of education delivery due to convenience , wide reach and low cost. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether online learning affects student development and academic performance at the University of Belize.

4. Variables Ind ependent: Mode of learning environment : online classes D ependent: Academic performances: evaluated by the grades students achieve

5. Purpose of the study To investigate the impact of online learning of student’s performance at the University of Belize. Evidence on the effect of students’ educational achievement and attainment. Assist the Ministry of Education in Belize to strategize and implement policies that will improve students’ academic performance. Important for designing and implementing appropriate eLearning method activities Recommendations will be developed.

6. Research Questions 1. How has the transition to online learning influenced students, overall academic performance? 2. How does the level of student engagement in online learning impact your academic performance? 3. How has online learning impacted students ability to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills? 4. What are the best practices and recommendations for improving the effectiveness of online learning in promoting your development and academic performance?

7. Hypothesis Online learning has positively impacted the academic performances of students at the University of Belize

Significance of study Educational Community : This research aims to raise awareness within the educational community about the effects of online learning on students' personal growth and academic achievement Educational Institutions and Administrators : This research can guide the development of strategies and support systems to address the unique needs of online learners. Students: The findings of this study directly benefit students engaged in online learning. Future Researchers : This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge concerning online learning's influence on student development and academic outcomes

9. Limitations Limitations of a study include factors that may impact the meaning of the research (Price et al., 2004). Listed below are a group of limitations that are expected. The investigators are of the opinion that information gotten from an online survey would not be as impactful as a survey done face to face. This is because the investigators cannot ask follow -up questions. The research will be done within the University of Belize; the results of the findings can only be attributed to the University of Belize. The investigation is based on human beings; it is expected that some level of bias will be towards certain situations Members of the university may not want to participate in the survey, which will cause a smaller testing pool. .

10. DELIMITATIONS The research will only focus on all students within the University of Belize attending both on-line and face to face classes. The questions put forward to students will be driven towards learning and teaching within the internet settings. The research will not focus on the convenience of on-line learning but only on its effectiveness of delivering the information to the student.

11. Definition of terms Effectiveness- is the extent to which an activity fulfills its intended purpose or function (Quality Research International, n.d.). E-Learning- is defined as providing Training and development to the Students/Employees through various Electronic media such as the Internet, audio, video, etc (Digital Class World, n.d.). Pandemic- A pandemic is a disease outbreak that spreads across countries or continents (WEBMD, 2022). Online learning: refers to instruction that is delivered electronically through various multimedia and Internet platforms and applications (Maddison et al., 2017).
