Open Access Resources

OPEN ACCESS RESOURCES Open access (OA) resources is a generic term used for knowledge resources made available in the public domain for public access or public consumption at large scale, without any hindrance of subscription fee or access charges. OA is facilitated in an internet based online environment. Thus, OA facilitators as well as users need to establish an online connectivity for knowledge diffusion. Open Access refers to resources that are freely available for viewing and/or use. Open access resources are freely available on the public Internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, or print them or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal or technical barriers.

OPEN ACCESS RESOURCES Open access (OA) literature is digital, online, free of charge, free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. In General, open a ccess (OA) is immediate, free and unrestricted access to digital materials. The author(s) and co pyright holder(s) grant(s) to all users a free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual right to access to, and license t o copy, use, distribute, transmit and display the work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works, in any digital mediu m for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of the authorship, as well as the right to make small numbers of printed copies for their personal use. T he users are able to freely access scholarly materials because the price of publication has been assumed by another party, usually the author, the author's institution or grant which funded the research.

FEATURES OF OPEN ACESS PUBLICATION Free access of all publications within the framework to all, irrespective of colour, caste, creed, sex, and religion. Guarantee of worldwide access. Right to everlasting access, License to copy, use, distribute, transmit and display the work publicly Right to open access of complete version as well as all supplemental materials.

OPEN ACCESS MODELS Green Open Access :- It involves authors self archiving their articles by sharing them on their own website, or more preferably, in their institution's Institutional Repository or in some other public archive. Gold O pen A ccess :- In this the articles are published in a journal that is open access, which means the journal, will handle hosting and distributing the journal article in a free and open manner. some gold open access journals have publication fees that need to paid by the author (or the author's employer) to cover the cost of publishing the article. Hybrid O pen A ccess :- In this model, traditional subscription based journals offer authors the option to make individual articles open access upon payment of an article processing charge (APC). The author has the choice to make their articles freely available within a subscription based journal, providing a mix of open access and subscription based content.

OPEN ACCESS MODELS Delayed open access :- in this model, the research articles are initially published behind a paywall or available inly to subscribers. After a certain period, the articles are made freely accessible. Short-term open access :- it refers to a temporary period during which research articles are made freely available to readers. Partial open access :- It involves making only a portion of a research article or publication freely available, while the fill content remains restricted to subscribers. Community supported open access :- in this model, academic communities, research institutions, or funding agencies collectively support open access publishing initiatives. This can involve collaborative efforts to fund open access journals, platforms or repositories.
