Act I, Scene I Iago informs Roderigo that Desdemona has eloped with Othello, a Moorish general in the service of Venice . Both of them exchange their hatred towards Othello as both of them hate Othello. Roderigo hates Othello because he is in love with Desdemona, Iago hates him as he was denied the position as captain in favor of Cassio . Still Iago decides to serve the general in the hope of revenge . They inform Brabantio about his daughter's elopement.
