WHY SOME PLANTS CANNOT PREPARE THEIR OWN FOOD ? Some plants cannot prepare their own food because those plants do not contain chlorophyll. Such plants depend on the food prepared by other plants Thus, their mode of nutrition is hetrotrophic . Cuscuta is a parasite since it derives it’s nutrition from some other organism and causes harm to that organism. The plant on which it grows is known as the ‘host’

INSECTIVOROUS PLANTS Insect eating plants are called insectivorous plants. These plants are capable of trapping insects and digesting them . These plants feed on insects for their nitrogen requirements. Pitcher plant and Venus fly trap are examples of insectivorous plant.
